Job Description
The Whitin Community Center Community Outreach Coordinator is a dedicated and collaborative role to build and support a growing Blackstone Valley Essential Needs Distribution Network. This role is critical in strengthening communication, coordination, and resource-sharing among local agencies and volunteer-run organizations that serve vulnerable populations. Due to the scope and complexity of supporting volunteer-led food pantries and other service providers, this position will focus on developing systems, fostering partnerships, and implementing tools that improve efficiency and impact across the network.
REPORTS TO: Community Outreach Director
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time Hourly (20 hours per week) Temporary (1 year grant funded position)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct outreach and meet with local stakeholders including food pantries, senior centers, veterans’ groups, domestic violence organizations, shelters, and other service agencies
Introduce and promote the Blackstone Valley Essential Needs Distribution Network
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners
Train partner organizations on the use of the network’s communication app and volunteer management system
Provide ongoing support to ensure effective adoption and usage of these tools
Collaborate with the members of the BV Essential Needs Distribution Network to assess gaps, needs, and opportunities
Catalog existing partnerships and identify areas for growth and expansion
Support the development of strategies to enhance food and essential item distribution
Connect with and learn from similar networks (e.g., Metrowest communities) to identify best practices
Assist in expanding sources for food and essential item donations
Maintain accurate time and attendance online and submit in timely manner
Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as mandated by your supervisor.
Adhere to WCC Core Competencies and Employee Manual
Meet with local stakeholders to receive and distribute donations based on their schedule

Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience in community outreach, nonprofit work, or program coordination preferred
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Comfortable leading training and supporting diverse groups of volunteers and professionals
Strong organizational and communication skills
Basic proficiency with technology and willingness to learn new systems
Access to reliable transportation for local meetings and site visits and to meet stakeholders to distribute and receive donations
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
A laptop will be provided to perform job duties
May require weeknight or Saturday meetings
