Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Village Administrator, the HR Generalist provides administrative and clerical support for the Village’s Human Resources functions, with a primary focus on payroll processing, recordkeeping, and customer service. This position assists with day-to-day HR operations and supports other administrative office functions, including the building department, cashier support, mail distribution, and assisting residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Processes bi-weekly payroll, including data entry, timekeeping review, and coordination with payroll systems.
· Assists with benefits of administration, including enrollments, changes, and responding to employee inquiries.
· Maintains and updates employee personnel files and HR records in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
· Assists with recruitment activities, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and onboarding new hires.
· Prepares employment verifications and other routine HR-related documentation.
· Assists with tracking leave, attendance, and other employee data.
· Provides front-line customer service to employees and residents, answering basic HR and administrative inquiries.
· Sorts and distributes incoming mail and supports general office operations.
· Provides clerical support to the building department and cashier functions as needed.
· Assists with data entry, report preparation, and recordkeeping for HR and administrative functions.
· Supports compliance with established policies, procedures, and record retention requirements.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; OR a combination of education and relevant administrative or payroll experience. Previous experience in payroll processing, clerical work, or an office setting is preferred.
