About This Position
The Supervisor of Environmental Services Satellite Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily cleaning operations of the Environmental Services Department in multiple locations and/or campuses. He/She is also responsible for interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, recommending Team Members for promotions, etc. This position will train and develop team members and team leaders to ensure they are performing at the highest level and attaining high quality cleaning standards consistently. The Supervisor of Environmental Services Satellite Operations must be able to adapt to changes and make operational decisions as well as be involved in higher level decisions affecting the department.
EDUCATION
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education
- Associate’s degree
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Minimum Required:
- FL Driver's License (DL) upon hired
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/SPECIALIZED TRAINING
Minimum Experience Required
HS/GED and a minimum of nine (9) years of experience to include the following:
- Five (5) years of experience in environmental services or housekeeping
- Two (2) years of experience as a Supervisor, Lead or Project Lead
- Customer service
- Evidence of a good driving record (OR)
AA/AS degree plus a minimum of seven (7) years' experience as stated above.
BA/BS degree plus a minimum of five (5) years' experience to include three (3) years of experience in environmental services or housekeeping AND two (2) years of experience as a Supervisor, Lead or Project Lead and
Years of experience requirements can be reduced by two (2) years in any category, with Moffitt related work experience.
Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required
- Strong operational and problem-solving skills.
- Evidence of a good driving record and maintain a good record per Moffitt policy
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental services standard and regulatory requirements.
JOB COMPONENTS
Essential Function
- Administrative - Scheduling, counseling staff, project assignment and compliance, room
- set ups, ordering and distribution of supplies, interviewing , evaluating and selecting applicants for open positions, time/attendance validation and shift logs
- Assists in budgeting process by providing proper FTE counts, capital equipment and supply needs, and recommending vendor services.
- Responsible for ordering supplies and linen and maintaining acceptable inventory levels.
- Performs team member evaluations with recommendations for merit increases. Counsels team members and enforces Moffitt policies through the progressive disciplinary action process.
- Corrects and coaches team members to help them be successful.
- Create and update team member daily job assignments, quality and training checklists, and assist with policy creation/revision.
- Creates schedules, approves PTO, and maintains team member files.
- Computer skills: MS Office and ability to learn software specific to Moffitt.
- Verifies through daily rounding that team members and team leaders are completing all projects and assignments while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Conducts quality assurance inspections (visual and other), observations, cart inspections, and tracks team member progress.
- Demonstrates continuous ability to maintain and/or improve customer and patient satisfaction
- Must effectively communicate both written and verbally with team members, other staff, and management personnel to resolve issues. Ability to follow up and follow through.
- Conduct huddle meetings, training, coaching, counseling and documentation of these events, all written and verbal communication

- Provides leadership for Team Leaders and team members and ensures adherence to policies, productivity standards, and safety guidelines.
- Assists in covering for other Supervisors if necessary and responsible for managing the department for short periods of time in the absence of the Director / Manager.
- Responsible for managing daily operations, problem solving, and properly allocating staff including managing overtime hours.
- Responsible for orienting and training new hires and on-going training for existing team members. This includes demonstrations and presentations in weekly huddles.
- Ability to engage team and foster a positive, caring, respectful, team-building environment.
- Ability to prioritize and make good judgments through daily operational challenges.
- Maintains safety throughout the Cancer Center by complying with Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC, NFPA, DOH and Cancer Center policies.
