Position Overview

We are looking for a Video Editor to join the Sparxoo Studios team. This role will be focused on post-production success of video projects. Our ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling and video editing. If you’re an independent self-starter with the ability to take complex ideas and translate them into easily-digestible, engaging digital videos, you’ve come to the right place.

What you will do

Here’s the deal—there’s no typical day at Sparxoo Studios. Our dynamic environment calls for adaptable problem solvers who believe change is the only constant in life (because it is). Although you might wear multiple hats on any given day, we’ve compiled the most important responsibilities:

• Edit video projects including importing and organizing media, editing footage and sound files, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, title/lower thirds, adding music/voice-over/sfx, managing media and finalizing output
• Serve as first pass and storytelling editor, following standards and creating organization and process around ingesting media, syncing edits, creating transcripts, metadata tagging, crafting story, selecting BROLL, etc. to ensure high-quality output and alignment with Executive Producer’s vision
• Work with the Studios Leadership during pre-production and on set to develop look books, production specs, and style guides for all productions
• Be a utility player on the video team; step into a variety of roles on set, working as Camera Operator, Gaffer, Production Assistant, DP, Lead Producer, Associate Producer, etc.

What you need to have

We want you to be successful at Sparxoo Studios, starting from the moment you walk through our doors. And while we’ll be your #1 cheerleader and help you along the way, in order to make a substantial impact you’ll need to have the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree in media, communications, marketing or related field required or equivalent amount of additional experience
• 2+ years experience editing and shooting content with an agency, production company, as a freelancer, in a high-volume environment or a combination of the three
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DSLR & Cinema Camera Workflow and Operations, Photoshop, Illustrator and Audio Software
• The ability to deliver post-production speed and dexterity that does not sacrifice quality
• The ability to be adaptable, work independently and as part of a team to establish project deliverables
• The ability to work across a range of digital mediums, including web, mobile and social media applications
• Passionate, positive energy with the ambition and a commitment to deliver amazing results
• A high degree of organizational effectiveness and attention to detail, especially related to cinematic composition, equipment, and file structure.

• Advanced knowledge of After Effects
• Vision - the ability to see the full story AND be able to bring it to life
• The ability to be innovative in finding the technology and the trends to move our services forward
• Ability to work as an animator to animate scenes and graphics in After Effects
• Experience in shooting HD, 6K+, and variable frame rates with familiarity using many different types of cameras and brands (Sony, Canon, RED, etc.)
• Understanding of lighting and audio for video shoots
• The drive and desire to create amazing work
