Quality Supplier Specialist in Montréal, Quebec at Velan Inc.

Under Supplier Quality Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the products or services provided by suppliers meet the established quality standards and requirements of Velan. Their primary goal is to manage and improve the quality of materials, components, and services sourced from external suppliers to meet the organization's quality and performance expectations. This includes assessing supplier capabilities, implementing quality control processes, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure that all products meet or exceed the established quality standards. More specifically, the Supplier Quality Specialist will manage and improve the quality of materials, components, and services sourced from external suppliers to meet the organization's quality and performance expectations. Main Responsibilities:

Supplier Evaluation and Selection:

• Assess and evaluate potential suppliers for quality capability during the selection process.
• Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and industry regulations.
• Prepares qualification plans and manages first article inspections
• Ensure that suppliers comply with industry regulations and standards.
• Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact supplier quality.

Quality Control Processes:

• Develop and implement quality control processes for incoming materials and components.
• Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality assurance procedures and specifications.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain.
• Collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and prevent recurrence of problems

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier quality performance.
• Prepare regular reports on supplier quality metrics for management review.

Collaboration with Internal Teams:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and production, to communicate and address quality issues.
• Provide guidance on quality requirements to internal stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve quality issues in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering
• Other degree combined with pertinent experience may be considered
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in supplier quality management
• Knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as forging, casting, machining, welding
• Bilingual
