POSITION SUMMARYA & Associates is seeking dependable and professional Licensed Security Officers for a temporary third-shift assignment at a secure correctional facility in Clayton, Missouri.
Selected Security Officers will supplement existing facility personnel by performing designated security and safety functions, including facility rounds, key tours, security-point inspections, observation, documentation, and other approved noncritical support duties.
This role is ideal for experienced security professionals who are comfortable working in a highly regulated, secure environment and who demonstrate exceptional reliability, situational awareness, judgment, and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Conduct scheduled interior security patrols and key tours throughout designated facility areas.
Inspect doors, locks, gates, access points, and other designated security locations.
Confirm assigned areas remain properly secured and immediately report discrepancies.
Conduct designated visual observations and proof-of-life/welfare checks in accordance with established facility procedures.
Monitor assigned areas for suspicious activity, safety hazards, unauthorized access, disturbances, or other unusual conditions.
Maintain accurate written or electronic logs of patrols, inspections, observations, and incidents.
Immediately communicate security, safety, medical, or operational concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
Follow all post orders, security procedures, emergency-response protocols, and facility regulations.
Assist facility personnel with approved noncritical security functions as directed.
Maintain a professional presence and interact appropriately with staff, visitors, contractors, and incarcerated individuals.
Protect confidential and security-sensitive information.
Respond appropriately to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and other incidents within the officer’s authorized scope of responsibility.
Perform other security-related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required.
Current St. Louis County Security Officer license or ability to obtain the required license prior to assignment.
Must meet applicable licensing requirements established by the St. Louis County Police Department.
Prior security experience strongly preferred; experience in corrections, detention, law enforcement, government facilities, hospitals, secure facilities, or other high-security environments is highly desirable.
Must successfully complete all required criminal-history, background, drug-screening, identification, and facility-clearance requirements.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Strong observational and situational-awareness skills.
Ability to understand and consistently follow post orders, written procedures, and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate professionally and prepare clear, accurate reports.
Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm during emergencies or stressful situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Dependable transportation, punctuality, attendance, and reliability are essential.
Must be able to remain alert and attentive throughout an overnight shift.
Applicants must possess or be able to obtain the applicable St. Louis County Security Officer license required for the assignment.
Employment and placement will be contingent upon successful completion and maintenance of all licensing, background, training, and facility-access requirements.
Candidates should be prepared to provide documentation supporting any current security license, training, or related certifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position may require:
Prolonged standing and walking.
Continuous or frequent patrol of assigned areas.
Regular use of stairs.
Bending, reaching, stooping, and inspecting doors, locks, and security points.
Ability to react promptly to safety or security concerns.
Ability to perform duties while wearing the required security uniform and authorized equipment.

ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTSThird-shift/overnight availability is required.
Candidates must be comfortable working inside a secure correctional environment.
Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.
Selected candidates must successfully complete all required orientation, licensing verification, training, background screening, and facility clearance before assignment.
The initial assignment is anticipated to last approximately three (3) months and may be adjusted based on operational requirements.
