Position Overview

The Receiving Agent plays a critical role in keeping our manufacturing operation running smoothly. This position is responsible for managing incoming shipments, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and ensuring materials move efficiently through the facility. It’s an excellent fit for someone who is organized, communicative, and takes pride in getting the details right every time.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Monitor inventory levels of current stock and initiate purchases of raw or semi-finished materials for manufacturing.
  • Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for production needs and order materials when necessary.
  • Monitor manufacturing changes that affect supply and demand to keep Kanban levels accurate and up to date.
  • Distribute incoming goods to the appropriate location within the manufacturing facility.

Receiving & Shipment Verification

  • Inspect incoming shipments to verify that orders have been filled correctly and goods meet specifications.
  • Use computer or tablet to initiate orders and submit them to Accounting.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure goods arrive on time and resolve issues related to undelivered or incorrect orders.

Qualifications

  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping, basic accounting, and general ledger practices.
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices, terms, and conditions.
  • Knowledge of market research, data analysis, and purchasing best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a practical, commercial mindset.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Understanding of Sales Tax vs. Sales Use Tax is a plus.
  • Great attitude and a genuine desire for self-improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a thriving, collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

Regularly walks the manufacturing floor to observe Kanban levels throughout the workday. Must be able to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stock items on bottom and top shelves as needed. Requires the ability to communicate clearly and accurately with vendors, and to operate a computer consistently throughout the day.
