Description:

Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Boat Detailer to join our manufacturing team in Chocowinity, North Carolina.

This position works with completed boats near the end of the manufacturing process and is responsible for washing, cleaning, detailing, and preparing finished boats for shipment. The Boat Detailer helps ensure every boat leaving the facility is clean, protected, and professionally presented.

Responsibilities include washing boat exteriors, cleaning interiors, removing production dust and residue, performing final detailing, and assisting with wrapping and protecting boats for transportation.

Previous professional boat detailing experience is helpful but not required. Candidates with experience in automotive detailing, car washing, marine cleaning, manufacturing, housekeeping, or other hands-on cleaning positions are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do

Boat Washing & Detailing
  • Wash and clean completed boats before shipment.
  • Clean hulls, decks, consoles, compartments, seating, flooring, and other finished areas.
  • Remove dust, dirt, fingerprints, adhesive residue, production debris, and other materials from finished surfaces.
  • Wipe down and detail fiberglass, gelcoat, metal, glass, vinyl, and other boat surfaces.
  • Vacuum and clean boat interiors and storage compartments.
  • Clean windshields, hardware, fixtures, and other finished components.
  • Use approved cleaning products, brushes, towels, vacuums, hoses, and detailing equipment.
  • Perform final touch-up cleaning as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail so completed boats are clean and presentable before shipment.
Wrapping & Shipping Preparation
  • Assist with preparing cleaned boats for transportation.
  • Wrap and protect finished boats according to established shipping procedures.
  • Install protective coverings and materials to help prevent damage during transportation.
  • Ensure seats, consoles, windshields, hardware, accessories, and other components are properly protected.
  • Secure protective materials so they remain in place during transportation.
  • Assist with shrink wrapping or other boat-protection processes as required.
  • Verify boats are clean and properly prepared before being released to the shipping and loading team.
  • Coordinate with Final Finish and Shipping employees to maintain an efficient flow of completed boats.
Final Inspection & Quality
  • Visually inspect boats during cleaning for scratches, marks, stains, damage, or other concerns.
  • Report visible defects or damage to the appropriate supervisor before shipment.
  • Identify areas requiring additional cleaning or detailing.
  • Check completed work to ensure boats meet cleanliness and presentation expectations.
  • Help prevent damage to gelcoat, upholstery, electronics, hardware, and other finished components while cleaning.
  • Handle completed boats carefully throughout the detailing and preparation process.
Cleaning Equipment & Supplies
  • Properly use and maintain cleaning and detailing equipment.
  • Maintain an organized supply of cleaning products, towels, brushes, protective materials, and other supplies.
  • Notify the appropriate team member when cleaning or wrapping supplies need to be replenished.
  • Follow instructions for the proper use, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Keep cleaning equipment and work areas organized and in good condition.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Maintain clean and organized boat-detailing and preparation areas.
  • Keep hoses, cords, tools, cleaning supplies, and other materials organized to prevent trip hazards.
  • Follow company procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Use required gloves, eye protection, footwear, and other PPE.
  • Follow safe work practices when climbing into, out of, or around boats.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, spills, or other hazards.
  • Follow all company environmental, health, safety, and quality procedures.
Requirements:
  • Previous boat detailing, automotive detailing, car washing, cleaning, manufacturing, or similar hands-on experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, professional finished work.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning products and detailing equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established cleaning and wrapping procedures.
  • Comfortable working in and around boats.
  • Ability to identify visible dirt, residue, scratches, damage, and other concerns.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work a consistent manufacturing schedule.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Chocowinity, North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous boat or marine detailing experience.
  • Automotive or recreational vehicle detailing experience.
  • Experience washing and preparing finished products for delivery.
  • Experience with boat wrapping or shrink wrapping.
  • Experience working with fiberglass and gelcoat surfaces.
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience.
  • Familiarity with professional cleaning and detailing products and equipment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position working in an active boat manufacturing and shipping-preparation environment.

  • Regular exposure to water, cleaning products, manufacturing noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, push, and pull.
  • Ability to safely climb into and out of boats throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in confined or difficult-to-reach areas of boats when necessary.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move cleaning supplies, equipment, protective materials, and boat-related components as required.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors depending on production and shipping needs.
  • Must wear required PPE and follow all facility safety procedures.
