Certified Surgical Technician

As a Surgical Technician in our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), you will play an essential role in preparing the operating room, supporting surgeons and perioperative nurses during procedures, and helping ensure every patient receives safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. A typical day for a Surgical Technician may include:
• Preparing operating rooms by ensuring surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are organized, available, and ready for scheduled procedures
• Prepare and maintain a sterile environment in the operating room
• Collaborating with the perioperative registered nurse to provide individualized, age-appropriate care for patients throughout the surgical experience
• Maintaining a sterile field and adhering to infection prevention, aseptic technique, and organizational policies to promote safe surgical outcomes
• Anticipating the surgeon’s instrumentation and equipment needs during procedures while responding efficiently to changes in surgical conditions
• Assisting the surgical team during routine and complex procedures by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment with precision and attention to detail
• Assist surgical teams by providing necessary instruments and supplies
• Monitoring the surgical environment to help ensure patients' physiologic responses remain appropriate throughout the perioperative experience
• Supporting a safe operating room environment by following established risk reduction practices, including fire prevention protocols and safety procedures related to laser and electrosurgical equipment
• Collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, and other members of the perioperative team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Maintaining accurate preparation, organization, and turnover of surgical equipment to promote efficient workflow and readiness between procedures
• Participating in departmental education, orientation, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives that support ongoing clinical excellence

Qualifications & Requirements:
To be considered for this Surgical Technician opportunity, you are passionate about supporting safe, high-quality surgical care through technical expertise and collaborative teamwork.

Required:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
• Successful completion of a Surgical Technician program and Surgical technician certification required (CST credential through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or another nationally recognized credentialing organization)
• Minimum of 2 year surgical technician experience in an OR setting
• Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association AHA required
• Ability to fulfill the 36 hours per week schedule, working the day shift from 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and on-call requirements as assigned
