About the Role:
Large Nephrology practice seeks a Medical Receptionist for its Crossroads office
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This role is critical in managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records to support clinical operations. The Medical Receptionist facilitates communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff, contributing to the overall quality of care. They handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism, adhering to healthcare regulations and privacy standards. Ultimately, this position supports the smooth operation of the medical office by combining administrative expertise with compassionate patient interaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Required: Flu immunization record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
- Experience with medical billing and coding.
- Previous experience with Allscripts and EHR.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
- Process patient payments, handle billing inquiries, and coordinate with insurance providers as needed.
- Coordinate patient flow by communicating with medical staff regarding patient arrivals and delays.
- Prepare and distribute necessary paperwork, including consent forms and medical history documents.
- Manage office supplies and ensure the reception area is organized and professional.
