Patient Access Department
The Patient Access Department at Sinai Hospital plays a crucial role in coordinating patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and pre-admission requirements. The team also offers financial counseling, supports emergency department access, assists with medical record requests, and serves as a key point of contact for patient inquiries related to appointments and hospital procedures.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete registration and authorization information for primarily unscheduled inpatient, observation, and outpatient statuses. The goal is to secure timely reimbursement for services rendered. Duties include verifying demographic and insurance information, confirming the presence of required compliance notifications (IMM, MOON, etc.), verifying insurance benefits, and obtaining authorizations as necessary. This position supports department policies and workflows that enhance patient safety, improve the patient experience, and meet revenue cycle objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure a positive customer experience in every interaction between Patient Access and customers.

Serve as a liaison between the department, facility, and customers, addressing their needs.

Provide clear explanations of insurance benefits, hospital processes, visit-specific charges, payments, and service estimates as requested.

Respond to customers with the appropriate level of urgency, ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting
