We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our dedicated team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping individuals achieve greater independence and quality of life.
Position SummaryThe Lead Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting while serving as a mentor and resource to Direct Support Professional staff. This position works closely with Group Home Managers to ensure quality care, compliance with agency standards, and person-centered support for all individuals served.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Program Support- Collaborate with Group Home Managers to ensure all aspects of care meet program standards and agency requirements.
- Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to Direct Support Professional staff.
- Support staff development and promote best practices in person-centered care.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with agency policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Communicate effectively with guardians, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
- Prepare meals and provide feeding assistance when needed.
- Support the development of daily living skills and independence.
- Assist individuals in participating in community activities, appointments, and social events.
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and encouragement.
- Implement individualized support plans and behavioral support strategies.
- Promote dignity, respect, self-determination, and person-centered services.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.
- Complete and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Monitor and report changes in individuals' health, behavior, or well-being.
- Adhere to all agency, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Direct Support Professional, including experience supporting individuals with behavioral challenges.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable with a commitment to helping others.
- CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
- One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience in a human services, healthcare, or residential support setting.
- Additional education or training in human services, psychology, social work, education, nursing, or a related field.
