Position Summary

The House Manager (HM) is responsible for the overall operation of a Dreams with Wings staffed residence. This role provides leadership, supervision, and direct support to ensure the health, safety, dignity, and quality of life of individuals living in the home. The House Manager is an Essential Worker, functions as part of the Dreams with Wings team, collaborates with Case Managers, and reports to the Director of Residential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and model the mission, vision, core values, and professional standards of Dreams With Wings in all interactions.
  • Provide overall oversight of the day-to-day operations of the staffed residence, including housekeeping, maintenance reporting, scheduling, medical appointments, grocery shopping, and transportation coordination.
  • Ensure consistent staffing coverage, manage shift changes, and respond appropriately to emergencies, illness, or call-offs.
  • Supervise staff performance, conduct annual evaluations, and facilitate regular staff meetings.
  • Ensure all staff complete required and individualized training prior to working independently in the home.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful environment that supports individual dignity, choice, cultural awareness, and inclusion.

Health, Safety & Medication Oversight

  • Serve as a mandated reporter by immediately recognizing and reporting any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in accordance with agency policy and state regulations.
  • Ensure medication administration compliance, including accurate medication logs, current prescriptions, and timely refills.
  • Coordinate and ensure attendance at all required medical, dental, and specialty appointments.
  • Maintain compliance with fire safety standards, emergency preparedness procedures, and health protocols.
  • Ensure prevention, identification, documentation, and reporting of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Individual Support & Quality of Life

  • Promote healthy lifestyles, including balanced nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness.
  • Support individual rights, self-determination, independence, and person-centered planning.
  • Encourage community participation, social connections, and meaningful recreational activities.
  • Provide or oversee support in daily living skills, including personal care, hygiene, medication management, and financial responsibilities.
  • Attend or ensure appropriate staff coverage for Dreams With Wings participant vacations and agency activities.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Case Managers, physicians, families, and agency leadership.
  • Ensure consistent and effective communication among staff and stakeholders.
  • Notify the Director of Residential Services regarding travel, availability, or significant concerns.
  • Ensure all time-off requests are submitted and approved according to agency procedures.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure all documentation meets Medicaid, state, and Dreams With Wings standards.
  • Submit required documentation by established deadlines, including monthly summaries, In and Out logs, fire drill reports, and Medication Administration Review checks.
  • Oversee and support implementation of the Final Federal Rule within the residence.
  • Ensure incident reports are completed accurately, submitted timely, and communicated appropriately.

Financial & Administrative

  • Upload receipts and monitor individual spending in accordance with agency systems and procedures.
  • Assist with staffing vacancies, house visits, and mandated training as needed.
  • Participate in agency events, community activities, and vacations as required.

Professional Conduct

  • Consistently act in a professional and respectful manner toward individuals supported, families, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Demonstrate honesty, transparency, reliability, and accountability in all responsibilities.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written interactions.
  • Model teamwork, positive leadership, and adherence to agency policies and ethical standards.
Requirements:

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

CPR and First Aid certification required.

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities strongly preferred.

Ability to safely lift and assist individuals as required.

Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance required.

Work Conditions

Status

  • Full time, 32-40 hours per week
  • Non-Exempt
  • Hourly

Schedule

  • Evening, weekend, and occasional overtime hours may be required.
  • Maintain continuity of services during emergencies.
  • Work flexible hours and alternate locations when required.

Occupational

Occupational Exposure: Position may involve routine exposure to potentially hazardous bloodborne pathogens; adherence to all safety and infection control procedures is required
