Are you passionate about supporting people experiencing housing instability? Come meet the CPLC shelter team on March 11! In partnership with the City of Albuquerque, Chicanos Por La Causa New Mexico Homeless Shelters are excited to be hosting an in-person hiring event!

We are hiring for the following roles, all shifts, and FT or On-Call:

  • Dorm Monitor
  • Housing Specialists
  • Certified Peer Support Workers (must be certified CPSW)
  • Leads/Supervisors

We are hiring for two shelter locations:

  • 5400 Gibson Blvd SE
  • 7440 Jim McDowell Rd

*Pay and schedules are determined by position and shifts assigned.

About CPLC New Mexico Shelters:
CPLC is excited to operate two of Albuquerque’s largest shelters, each serving an average of 600 people per night, with cold winter nights bringing in more than 700 people, offering a safe and welcoming environment to people experiencing homelessness. The center is open year-round, offering meals, a warm overnight bed, and secure under-bed storage. Shuttle service is provided daily. The team provides easy access to trauma-informed services such as case management, job searching, and other supportive services. The team's goal is to guide guests through a successful exit from the shelter to safe, stable housing and a plan for ongoing support.

Learn a little more about each role below ahead of the event!

  • Dorm Monitor
    • You will be integral in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment within the shelter dormitories. You will oversee resident activities, ensuring compliance with shelter policies. In this role, you will be able to provide meaningful support to individuals experiencing homelessness. Your effort will contribute to the shelter team's goal of building daily community and respect among residents, empowering individuals navigate through challenges as they work towards stability and recovery.
  • Housing Specialists
    • You will be delivering trauma-informed, client-centered support to female residents at the Women’s Housing Navigation Shelter. As the Housing Support Specialist, you'll combine housing case management and intake coordination to ensure a seamless service experience for residents entering and residing in the shelter. Your daily routine involves doing intake assessments, data entry, crisis intervention, individualized service planning, connection to community resources, and ongoing support to promote housing stability and self-sufficiency. Ensuring compliance with shelter policies while fostering a safe, respectful, and empowering environment is key to your success.
  • Certified Peer Support Workers (CPSW)
    • Through trauma‑informed, strengths‑based practices, you will provide peer support and case management to shelter residents. You will empower individuals to build housing stability, behavioral health resilience, and progress toward permanent housing. Through consistent engagement, accurate documentation, outreach, and community partnerships, you will create safe spaces for residents to receive high-quality care. Some CPSWs also get the opportunity to mentor other shelter staff through resource navigation and complex cases.
    • NOTE: CPSW candidates must be CPSW through a recognized program, such as the New Mexico Certified Peer Support Worker training program
  • Leads/Supervisors
    • Team leads and supervisors have a huge impact on the success of shelter operations. Your leadership and expertise will ensure team cohesion and quality of services to the community. You will be the key bridge between frontline staff and program leadership, ensuring that shelter operations, staffing, documentation, and client flow align with program goals, contractual requirements, and trauma-informed best practices. Providing direct oversight of and mentorship, you will ensure consistent service delivery, staff accountability, and a safe, organized, and supportive shelter environment. Leads and Supervisors also have significant administrative and systems-level responsibilities, including reporting oversight, decision-making, staffing and schedule ownership, quality assurance, and direct involvement in process improvement.
