Job Description
Responsible for assessing patients daily, preparation and infusion of medications via intravenous lines. Certain patients will require intravenous access devices be placed or replaced, on site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians with various procedures, IV catheter placements, phlebotomy, charting documentation of medication administered and patient care intervention including vital signs, relaying instructions to patients/families, answering calls and providing pertinent information.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: reviewing lab/xray reports, hospital notes, completing forms/requisitions as needed, managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/promoting patient rights, responding appropriately to emergency codes, sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly.
Knowledge/Experience: Knowledge of healthcare field and medical specialty.
Knowledge and experience in maintenance of PICCs, midlines and dressing changes for both.
Knowledge of specific tasks related to infections and Infectious Diseases.
Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
Skills: Advanced skill in starting peripheral IV lines.
Skill in preparing, mixing and administering injections.
Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
Skill in therapeutic phlebotomy procedure and intravenous line placement.
Skill with computer software systems, including EMR and email.
Requirements:Education:High School Diploma
Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program
Current California Registered Nursing License
Current BLS and/or ACLS Certification
Additional Desired Skills and Experience:
Bilingual in Spanish, a plus
Flexible Schedule, including ability to work occasional weekends-2 weekend days per month- required
