About This Position

Description:

OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for a Brake Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily operations within the Press Brake Department to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role oversees personnel, equipment, scheduling, and process performance while driving continuous improvement and maintaining adherence to safety and quality standards. The Supervisor ensures production targets are met while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise daily press brake operations, ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met
  • Coordinate workflow, staffing, and machine assignments to optimize throughput and efficiency
  • Monitor production metrics, including productivity, scrap, rework, and on-time performance
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and process inefficiencies
  • Lead, coach, and develop Brake Department operators and leads
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Facilitate training on equipment, safety procedures, and quality standards
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and OSHA standards
  • Enforce proper machine guarding, PPE usage, and safe operating procedures
  • Collaborate with Quality to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with ISO or other applicable quality systems
  • Oversee setup and operation of CNC and manual press brakes
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and work closely with Maintenance to minimize downtime
  • Support process improvements, tooling optimization, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Partner with Engineering, Scheduling, Quality, and other departments to support new product introductions and production changes
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma projects
Requirements:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of press brake or metal fabrication experience preferred
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of CNC press brake operations, tooling, and setup procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
  • OSHA safety training or certification
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
