Job Description
The Greenskeeper II is an experienced seasonal position responsible for performing skilled golf course maintenance duties with limited supervision. This position is intended for individuals with prior golf course, landscape, grounds maintenance, or related experience who can independently perform most routine maintenance tasks and operate a wide variety of equipment safely and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists with golf course setup, including changing hole locations, moving tee markers, and setting course accessories.
Performs grounds maintenance operations such as inspection, mowing, trimming, edging, pickup, pruning, using power and hand tools and equipment.
Mows greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other turf areas as assigned.
Operates golf course maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
Repairs divots and ball marks.
String trims and edges around course features, trees, signs, and landscaped areas.
Assists with irrigation repairs and watering operations as directed.
Assists with golf course construction and improvement projects including, but not limited to, installing & repairing drainage, bunker renovations, installing sod and tree work.
Applies fertilizers, soil amendments, and other turf products under supervision when permitted.
Removes debris, leaves, branches, and litter from the golf course and maintenance areas.
Plants, prunes, weeds, and maintains ornamental landscape areas.
Washes, cleans, and performs basic maintenance on equipment and tools.
Cleans and maintains on-course and maintenance facility restrooms.
Inspects for diseases, pests, or abnormalities affecting plants and turf, and is involved in planting and propagating.
Transports, loads and unloads supplies, equipment and machinery.
Performs heavy physical labor, lift, carry, push and pull heavy objects, such as cement and fertilizer bags, (up to 50 lbs.). Walk, stand, stoop and crouch for long periods; climb ladders; dig ditches and post holes.
Performs operation of motor vehicles and/or power equipment with intermittent vibration.
Performs under various weather conditions.
Complies with OSHA and Cal-OSHA standards.
Follows oral and written instructions.
Prepares and maintains written records and reports.
Works harmoniously and cooperatively with fellow employees and the public.
Performs other duties as assigned to support golf course maintenance operations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Greets public and provides information to public or directs them to golf pro shop.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of and Skilled in: Effective oral and written communication skills. Methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area, construction and maintenance work. Use and care of gardening materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair. Safe, efficient mechanical operation of power equipment, mowers, loader tractor, slope mower and other motorized equipment. Common safety practices and procedures; simple mathematics.
Ability to: Follow oral and written instructions; read, write and speak English at a level to satisfactorily perform the work; work harmoniously and cooperatively with fellow employees and the public; follow directions and work effectively as part of a team and independently; maintain reliable attendance and punctuality; maintain neat and appropriate appearance; effectively communicate orally and in writing; analyze situations and adopt effective course of action. Use and care for hand and power tools; follow safety procedures and identify potential safety hazards. Perform grounds maintenance and repair work; operate and maintain power equipment and vehicles such as tractors and attachments.

PREFERRED QAULIFICATIONS
Previous golf course maintenance experience.
Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic irrigation repair.
Experience applying fertilizers, pesticides, or other turfgrass products.
Knowledge of turfgrass management practices and golf course conditioning standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, noise, chemicals, and uneven terrain. Early morning shifts are regular to accommodate golf course operations and customer play.
TYPICAL SCHEDULE
Typical scheduled work shifts start at 5 a.m. daily, including half shifts (5-9 a.m.) every third weekend, and may include work on holidays and occasional overtime based on operational needs and seasonal demands.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years old. Equivalent to graduation from high school. One (1) or more years of golf course maintenance, landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, agriculture, or related experience Experience operating commercial mowing equipment and other landscape maintenance equipment. Ability to perform golf course maintenance tasks with limited supervision.
COMPENSATION $21.40 - $22.40 per hour
STATUS Seasonal; Non-Exempt.
