Building and Grounds Worker I - Temporary at County of Nevada – Penn Valley, California

The right person for this position will have knowledge of or desire to learn the following skills.

• Care and maintenance of plants, shrubs and trees, including accepted pruning and trimming techniques.
• Hand and power tools, materials, equipment used in grounds and landscape maintenance.
• Irrigation systems, their components, and operations.
• Small engine and grounds equipment maintenance and repair.
• Basic building maintenance tools and procedures.
• Safe work practices.

Mobility in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Exposure to electrical equipment (moving parts), chemical substances, fumes and dust, all of which may be hazardous due to pesticides/herbicides. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

High school degree or equivalent plus one year of experience in performing grounds maintenance and landscaping work.

Possession of a valid California drivers license within 30 days of hire.
