Experience Avail

At Avail CPA, we believe great work happens through collaboration. With over 90 years of experience and a growing team of 140+ professionals across Alberta and British Columbia, we help our clients and communities thrive through expert advice, genuine care, and innovative solutions.

We’re currently seeking an Audit Manager to support our Lethbridge-based not-for-profit team. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong audit expertise and is passionate about working with organizations that are making a real difference in the world.

If you enjoy leading meaningful work, building trusted client relationships, and contributing to a values-driven team — we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a key member of our team, you will:

Audit Leadership and Supervision

  • Lead and oversee annual audit engagements for our not-for-profit client group.
  • Ensure work aligns with professional standards and industry best practices.
  • Drive audit planning, execution, and on-time delivery of high-quality engagements.
  • Support the implementation of strategic initiatives within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Provide timely support to partners and fellow team members throughout the engagement process.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare clear, accurate documentation including technical reports, correspondence, summaries, and presentations.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations with clarity and purpose to both internal and external stakeholders.

Client Relationship Development

  • Maintain strong communication with clients to understand their operations, challenges, and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with not-for-profit organizations to identify improvement opportunities and support long-term success.
  • Help not-for-profit clients make the most of their resources — so they can make the most impact in their communities.

Coaching and Mentorship

  • Mentor CPA candidates and junior accountants through technical coaching, regular feedback, and growth-focused development.
  • Promote a collaborative, learning-focused environment within the team.

Continuous Learning and Innovation

  • Stay current with Canadian accounting and auditing standards, particularly those relevant to not-for-profit and public sector entities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit processes and firm best practices.

A Day in the Life

On a typical day, you might lead a planning meeting for an upcoming audit, review files from a team member, meet with a not-for-profit client to walk through financials, and finish your day by mentoring a CPA candidate preparing through their next milestone.

What We're Looking For

  • Canadian CPA designation
  • 7+ years of progressive assurance experience in public accounting
  • Proficiency in a range of accounting frameworks, including CAS, not-for-profit, and public sector standards
  • Passion for advancing not-for-profit missions through financial transparency and leadership
  • Proven expertise in building client relationships, understanding business dynamics, and fostering collaboration
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities that build trust and deliver results

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and responsibilities
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and more)
  • Flexible work environment that supports work-life balance
  • A collaborative team culture where connection and transparency matter
  • Professional development and learning opportunities tailored to your career goals
  • The chance to do purposeful work with organizations that create lasting community impact
