Job Description
The Terminal Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of terminal operations supporting Commercial Driver License (CDL) Over-the-Road (OTR) drivers. This position provides leadership to drivers and terminal personnel while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transportation operations. The Terminal Manager oversees driver performance, regulatory compliance, fleet utilization, customer service, and operational efficiency to achieve company goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Management
Direct and oversee all day-to-day terminal operations.
Supervise and support CDL OTR drivers to ensure safe, timely, and efficient cryogenic molecule movement.
Coordinate with dispatch, customer service, maintenance, and logistics team to maximize operational performance.
Monitor delivery schedules, equipment availability, and driver productivity.
Develop and implement operational procedures that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure optimal utilization of tractors, trailers, and terminal resources.
Driver Leadership and Management
Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and retain qualified CDL drivers.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and coaching sessions.
Foster a positive work environment that emphasizes professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Manage driver schedules, attendance, and time-off requests.
Address employee concerns, disciplinary matters, and performance improvement plans.
Promote driver recognition and engagement initiatives.
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), OSHA, and company regulations.
Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).
Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and driver training.
Maintain satisfactory safety performance metrics and audit readiness.
Ensure compliance with vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules, and required documentation.
Fleet and Equipment Management
Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with maintenance personnel.
Monitor equipment condition and ensure timely reporting of mechanical issues.
Oversee trailer inventories and terminal assets.
Minimize equipment downtime through proactive planning.
Customer Service
Maintain strong relationships with customers by ensuring reliable service.
Resolve operational issues affecting customer deliveries.
Collaborate with customers to improve transportation solutions and service levels.
Monitor service performance metrics and implement continuous improvements.
Financial Management
Manage terminal operating budgets.
Monitor labor, fuel, maintenance, and operational expenses.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Analyze operational reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Ensure achievement of profitability and productivity objectives.
Administrative Responsibilities
Partner with HR to maintain accurate personnel records.
Prepare reports regarding safety, productivity, staffing, and financial performance.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Participate in strategic planning and operational meetings.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of transportation or logistics management experience.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience managing CDL drivers.
Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, Hours of Service, and transportation regulations.
Experience managing OTR transportation operations.
Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ELD platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience managing a trucking terminal.
Knowledge of fleet maintenance practices.
Experience with driver recruiting and retention programs.
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience is a plus.

Combination of office and outdoor terminal operations.
Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call responsibilities.
Periodic travel to customer locations, company facilities, or training events may be required.
