Ensure that all products coming into the facility are consistently high quality and adhere to relevant specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect all fresh produce arriving at the facility before it’s accepted into the warehouse
- Document issues noticed during inspection process and discuss inspection results to the Quality Supervisor
- Recommend adjustments and changes to increase product consistency
- Inspect produce returned by retail customers to determine cause of credit and evaluate who is responsible and how to reduce future issues
- Comply with all aspects of the food safety programs and assist with recordkeeping requirements
- Attend seminars and educational conferences to stay up to date on USDA standards and company quality standards
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of fresh produce
- Forklift certification preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about fresh produce with a special emphasis on potatoes and onions
- Attention to detail
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership skills and teamwork mentality
- Written communication skills
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking
- Various repetitive movements and good manual dexterity to perform required tasks
- Exposure to airborne particles or fumes
- Stairs will need to be climbed throughout the day to access the grading line
- Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas
- Occasionally will need to lift up to 60 pounds
Work Schedule:
- 5:45 - 2:30 pm
- Increased hours during storage time (September - End of October)
