Position Summary
The Community Engagement Coordinator supports organizational growth by building and maintaining relationships within the community and developing pipelines for volunteers and potential employees. This role serves as a representative of the organization, engaging with community partners to increase visibility and support recruitment efforts aligned with current organizational needs. The position works closely with the Director of Marketing & Development to align outreach efforts with strategic priorities while supporting broader marketing and development initiatives. This role serves as the primary lead for the organization’s volunteer program, with responsibility for developing, expanding, and strengthening volunteer engagement in alignment with organizational needs. The Community Engagement Coordinator is expected to bring initiative, creativity, and forward-thinking ideas to grow the program while leveraging internal resources across Operations, HR, and Compliance to support execution, tracking, and reporting.
Community Outreach and Relationship Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, churches, and community partners
- Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and outreach opportunities
- Identify and pursue opportunities to increase community engagement and visibility
- Maintain consistent presence and follow-up with community contacts
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying and developing new community partnerships
- Identify and develop new opportunities for volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and program expansion that support organizational growth
Recruitment and Pipeline Development
- Support recruitment efforts for both volunteers and employees based on current organizational needs and priorities
- Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of volunteers and potential candidates
- Adapt outreach and engagement strategies to align with evolving operational and programmatic needs
- Collaborate with leadership to understand and respond to changing recruitment priorities
- Coordinate volunteer intake and engagement while partnering with Operations, HR, and Compliance to support onboarding, documentation, and program execution
- Serve as the central point of coordination for volunteer interest, including triaging requests and aligning opportunities with organizational needs
- Support development and growth of the volunteer program by identifying gaps, opportunities, and areas for expansion
Volunteer Program Leadership and Coordination
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day function of the volunteer program in alignment with organizational priorities
- Participate in IDT (Home and LSKCC) to understand patient, program, and operational needs related to volunteer support
- Facilitate alignment between volunteer availability and organizational needs in collaboration with Operations and clinical leadership
- Organize and support volunteer training sessions and inservices to maintain engagement and readiness
- Maintain ongoing communication and engagement with active volunteers to support retention and participation
- Utilize organizational systems and internal support functions to ensure effective program coordination, tracking, and reporting
Marketing and Development Support
- Support marketing campaigns and outreach initiatives as directed
- Assist with community events and organizational visibility efforts
- Contribute to storytelling and content development efforts as needed
- Provide support for development initiatives, including grant-related activities, as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field preferred
- Experience in community outreach, recruiting, marketing, or relationship-based roles preferred
