Job Description
Innovations Community Mental Health Center is a Partial Hospital/Community Mental Health Center. We provide group therapy for adults and adolescents with mild to severe and chronic mental illness, including chemical dependency.
Our clinical department is looking for Behavioral Health Technicians to join our team! We have positions at our Dallas and Ft. Worth locations.

The Behavioral Health Technician provides assistance to mental health patients by ensuring a safe, secure environment. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the transportation of the patients to and from the facility site and assisting in the overall day to day functioning of the program's flow by monitoring the clients, aiding staff during group therapy, and supervision of patients during staff break periods. The clients are transported to the office and the start of the day and home at the end of the day in company vans. During the day they are monitored while onsite for group therapy by our BHT's.
The Behavioral Health Technician assists and performs basic patient care in a psychiatric treatment environment. This position performs a variety of paraprofessional duties in providing care to psychiatric patients.
Typical Duties
- Assists in the delivery of direct patient care as assigned by the nurse and or therapist, reporting and documenting results.
- Assists in maintaining a therapeutic milieu with professional behavior/communication by engaging patients in community groups and reporting patient participation & needs to the nurses and interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Assists with admission, dismissal, and transfer of patients.
- Checks patient property and secures valuables according to policy and procedures.
- Escorts patients within the facility, to other departments, to outside activities; transports patients in van to and from the facility or as needed.
- Assists in maintaining patient/milieu safety utilizing non-aggressive patient management techniques.
- Completes hand off communication with nurses, therapists, and other staff to ensure patient safety and monitoring.
- Maintains close observation as ordered by the physician and documentation completed according to departmental policy and protocols.
- Maintains cleanliness of unit in collaboration with housekeeping department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
