Prepress Technician in Ronkonkoma, New York at Mittera Group Inc

Production-focused Prepress Technician responsible for preparing customer-supplied files for commercial print and packaging production. Primary responsibilities include file preflight, imposition, color management, and ensuring files are fully press-ready within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Preflight and prepare digital files for commercial and packaging production
• Verify trim size, bleeds, resolution, fonts, and color builds (CMYK/spot)
• Understand imposition and pagination using layout software (Kodak Preps experience a plus)
• Manage spot colors, white ink layers, separations, and trapping
• Work with PET and other specialty substrates (reverse printing and white builds a plus)
• Prepare files for offset, digital, and CTP workflows
• Communicate file issues clearly with internal teams to maintain production flow
• Follow standard operating procedures and quality control requirements
• All other production-related duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

• Preferred: Minimum 2 year’s experience in a commercial print or packaging prepress environment
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and standard prepress software
• Understanding of offset, digital, RIP, and CTP workflows (Automation Engine a plus)
• Experience with imposition software (Kodak Preps a plus)
• Ability to manage multiple jobs and meet production deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and production accuracy
• Effective communication skills within a production setting
• Self-motivated, reliable, and quality-focused

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
• Occasional standing and walking within the facility
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds when required
• Fine motor skills and manual dexterity required for computer-based production work

Work Environment

Production office environment within a commercial print manufacturing facility. Noise levels and temperatures consistent with a controlled plant setting.
