šŸŽÆ About the Role

The Central Sterile Director provides leadership through planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluating the CSP Department service level to all areas of the hospital, Saratoga Surgery Center, and off-sites as identified. Maintains 24-hour accountability for services provided by the CSP department. The Director displays positive support for the Mission, Vision and Values of Saratoga Hospital.

  • Develops and monitors a staffing pattern to ensure optimal care/service and productivity for the department. Responsible for providing leadership to personnel.
  • Directs collection, receiving, processing, storing and distributing supplies and equipment to required areas.
  • Coordinates all equipment and instrument needs for daily surgical procedures.
  • Oversees all sterilization procedures and equipment at the hospital and applicable off-site facilities.
  • Demonstrates effectiveness in coordinating the CS department’s operations to meet the goals and the needs of the hospital.
  • Oversees all sterilization equipment product procurement process and evaluations and trials.
  • Prepares and monitors a comprehensive financial plan, annual operating budget and capital budgets within areas of responsibility.
  • Proactively identifies and develops a plan to correct budget variances.
  • Reviews patient charges for accuracy to ensure accurate input into system for coding and billing processes.
  • Provides oversight of surgical services inventory, procurement and management.
  • Delegates to materials handler as necessary. Assures availability, validation and cost-effective acquisition of surgical specialty supplies, including coordination of all instrument repair, loaners and vendor equipment.
  • Establishes, monitors, and assures that the department has updated written policies, procedures, work schedules, job descriptions, and other necessary documents required for compliance with governing agencies (TJC, AORN, AAMI, SGNA).
  • Assures that departmental operations and policies meet hospital safety policies for: equipment, management, life safety, infection control and disasters. Assures ongoing training for staff on the proper handling, use, storage and labeling of all supplies and equipment.

šŸ“‹ What You Bring

  • An Associate's degree required; a Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in a supervisory position in Central Supply
  • CS technician certification
  • CS Manager certification CBDSPD is preferred.
