Our track record is defined by high quality, cost-effective, and timely performance across numerous contracts, earning exceptional CPARS ratings and commendations.
About the Work
NASA Langley sits on 764 acres in Hampton, Virginia, and is home to roughly 3,400 civil servants and contractors working on aviation, atmospheric science, and space exploration. The Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering II (CMOE II) contract keeps that campus running. It supports wind tunnels, laboratories, and research utilities, along with engineering design, construction, and facility modernization projects. - Develop design concepts and layouts, and run the engineering calculations needed to size and select equipment and materials.
- Plan the drafting work for each project, build drawing lists, and coordinate with engineers, detailers, and checkers.
- Produce complex drawings in AutoCAD and Revit from furnished or self-generated sketches and computations.
- Check drawings for accuracy against company and NASA drafting standards and specifications, and confirm designs are feasible and meet spec.
- Prepare design and construction estimates, consult with manufacturers, evaluate materials, and write or edit specifications.
- Help maintain drafting standards and mentor newer drafting staff.
- Visit facilities and test sites (about 10% of your time) to verify field conditions.

- U.S. citizenship.
- Four years of related engineering experience with expertise in formulating data for presentation. (Additional relevant education can substitute for part of this.)
- Strong working proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (2024 or newer).
- Hands-on experience with electrical power and controls design in facilities and utilities.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including presenting technical information with visual aids.
- A valid driver's license and REAL ID-compliant identification (see accepted documents).
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance or badge (see Additional Requirements).
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Two years of college coursework in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Experience leading or checking the work of other drafters.
- Background in government, research, or industrial facility projects.
