Job Description

The Youth and Teen Director is a dual-role position responsible for year-round oversight and development of youth programming. This position will also be supporting the planning and execution of Camp Chai. This position focuses on engaging children and families through meaningful, fun, and Jewishly enriched experiences both during the school year and the summer.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Program Development:  

Ensure program integrity and excellence by designing, implementing and monitoring high-quality programs that align with organizational goals, follow through on strategic objectives and maintain consistency, compliance and best practices throughout all phases of development and execution.Partner with other departments to coordinate cross-programming for children and families. Create, develop and implement four (4) Saturday night programs annually for youth ages. Ability to multitask to organize incoming and outgoing communications.  Ability to understand the relationship of information and its effect throughout all processes and programs; to be proactive and utilize appropriate levelsof initiative Prepare Youth Department Budget anb prepare purchase orders, submit payroll,and actively monitor the Youth Department budget. Purchase supplies, equipment, food, etc.within the approved budget. Coordinate room scheduling and maintenance set-ups. Publicize classes, programs, vacation programs and events. Submit appropriate informationfor marketing email blasts and other marketing materials. Assist with providing a safe and secure environment for all members and guests; if any facility problems arise, - notify Director of Building & Grounds to make sure that the facilities (truck, trailer, vans & buses) are clean, the equipment is in proper working order and safe and secure for members and staff.   Coordinate any repair or maintenance needs with facility staff. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s). 

Club J (Afterschool Program): 

Create, develop and implement ongoing program opportunities for Club J (K-6)Oversee the planning, staffing,logistics and daily operations of Club J. Staff and train the Club J team to ensure consistent program quality, safety. Ensure high standards of supervision, engagement, and age-appropriate enrichment. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise part-time van drivers and program staff for youth programs/events. Must serve as a back-up van driver for Club J.  Provide guidance, support, and resources to ensure staff success and program quality.Plan,coordinate, implement school-day vacation programs, including early release days, national holidays when the J is open, one day off programs, Thanksgiving, and Passover

Camp Chai Associate Responsibilities 

Assist in planning and coordinating all aspects of Camp Chai throughout the school year. Support the Camp Director with program development, staff training, and camper experience.  Attend supervisory meetings with the Director of Camping Services. Take the lead in organizing staff and camper reunions. Work with the Camp Director on year-round staff and camper engagement strategies. Participate in interviewing and hiring seasonal staff; attend job fairs and onboarding events. Assist with camper recruitment efforts, support registration processes, andmaintainaccuraterosters. Supervise summer specialists, schedules, keeping track of absences, and assist in logistical and operational coordination. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: 

Bachelor’s degree preferred. High school diploma or GED required.   Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.  Detail oriented and well organized, with ability to plan projects, activities and schedule several months in advance. Demonstrate passion and knowledge of social media.High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Access.  Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at the same time. This position requires independent judgment, initiative, and advanced administrative skills. The person in the position should be innovative, imaginative and provide a positive role model for members and staff. Professional in appearance, manner and tone.A team player who possesses the ability to work in a collaborative environment.Must be able to lift 40 pounds.Able to prioritize in a constantly changing environment. Experience working with Youth ages. Must have a proven track record of utilizing good judgment and decision-making skills to be able to work independently.
