Job Description

Business Analyst - Content Migration

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Business Analyst – Content Migration in Canada.

This role sits at the heart of large-scale digital and information transformation programs, ensuring that critical engineering, asset, and operational content is accurately prepared for migration into modern enterprise repositories. You will work closely with business users, document control teams, and technical specialists to assess, structure, and validate complex information sets. The position plays a key role in improving data quality, discoverability, and governance across enterprise content ecosystems. You will translate business and documentation needs into clear migration rules, mapping logic, and validation frameworks. Working in a highly collaborative environment, you will help ensure that content readiness aligns with client expectations and delivery objectives. This is a detail-oriented, analytical role with direct impact on the success of enterprise information management initiatives.

Accountabilities:
  • Facilitate discovery sessions with business users, SMEs, and document owners to understand content sources, metadata expectations, and migration readiness needs, ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
  • Analyze and assess documents and metadata from various repositories, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, duplicates, and obsolete records that may impact migration quality.
  • Define and document mapping rules, normalization logic, controlled vocabularies, classification structures, and enrichment requirements to support structured content migration.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and document control functions to align engineering, asset, and operational data with AIM/EIM solution frameworks.
  • Support testing, validation, and user acceptance activities by documenting rules, decisions, and outcomes to ensure traceable and reliable migration results.
  • Produce clear reporting, metrics, and recommendations on content readiness, risks, and remediation priorities to support informed decision-making.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in oil & gas or another process industry environment, ideally with owner/operator exposure.
  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, content migration, document control, records management, or asset information roles.
  • Hands-on experience with document or enterprise content management systems such as OpenText Content Server, Livelink, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of metadata models, taxonomy structures, document control standards, and engineering or operational documentation.
  • Experience supporting data assessment, content cleanup, migration preparation, validation, or user acceptance testing activities.
  • Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly and effectively.
  • Post-secondary education in business, information management, IT, engineering technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid open work permit (no visa sponsorship available).
Benefits
  • Remote work flexibility within Canada (and the USA where applicable).
  • Opportunity to contribute to large-scale digital transformation and enterprise information management initiatives.
  • Inclusive, respectful, and diverse work environment with equal opportunity hiring practices.
  • Supportive culture that values accessibility and accommodations throughout the hiring process.
  • Exposure to complex, high-impact data and content migration programs in industrial and engineering contexts.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits aligned with experience and market standards (details shared during the hiring process).
  • Agency and recruitment firms are kindly requested not to submit unsolicited candidates; no fees will be paid for unsolicited profiles.
