Senior Project Manager Backbase

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager — Backbase in Canada.

This senior-level role sits at the intersection of digital banking strategy and hands-on program delivery, leading large-scale Backbase implementations for credit unions across the Americas. You will act as a player-coach, guiding both the “what” and the “how” of transformation initiatives, from product vision and requirements definition to execution and governance. Working in a fully remote, cross-functional environment, you will collaborate with executives, product teams, vendors, and technical specialists to deliver complex digital banking solutions. The role demands strong fluency in financial services ecosystems, particularly credit union operations and regulatory contexts. You will help shape member-first digital experiences powered by modern banking platforms. It is a high-impact position suited for a leader who thrives in ambiguity and drives clarity through structure and execution.

Accountabilities:

You will lead end-to-end delivery of Backbase-powered digital banking programs while aligning business goals with technical execution and ensuring successful transformation outcomes across credit union environments:

  • Define program strategy, roadmap, and delivery approach across digital banking initiatives, ensuring alignment with executive stakeholders and organizational priorities
  • Oversee Backbase platform implementations, managing integrations with core banking systems, middleware, and member-facing digital channels
  • Act as both strategic advisor and execution lead, balancing business analysis (requirements, user stories, functional specs) with program governance and Agile delivery
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between product, engineering, vendors, and credit union leadership to resolve risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges
  • Drive Agile ceremonies and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), ensuring predictable delivery and continuous improvement
  • Leverage AI tools and modern productivity practices to accelerate documentation, analysis, and delivery efficiency
Requirements:

You bring extensive experience in financial services and digital banking transformation, with deep knowledge of credit union environments and proven success delivering complex Backbase programs:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles within financial services, including at least 5 years in digital banking initiatives
  • Direct experience working with credit unions or community banking institutions is mandatory
  • Proven track record leading Backbase platform implementations in complex enterprise environments
  • Strong hybrid capability across business analysis and project/program management, including user stories, functional design, and governance
  • Expert-level understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and hybrid delivery models
  • Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior banking leadership (CIO, COO, CEO level)
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to enhance delivery speed and documentation quality
  • University degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
