Job Description

AI & Media Innovation Student Intern

School of Applied Media and Innovation

Summer 2026 | 2–4 Positions Available

Position Overview

The School of Applied Media and Innovation at Harrisburg University is seeking two to four student interns for a hands-on, hybrid role spanning artificial intelligence and media production. Unlike traditional internships with a single narrow focus, this position is intentionally cross-disciplinary: interns will contribute to AI tool development, produce digital and social media content, work on video projects, and participate in collaborative project brainstorming and planning alongside School leadership.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of emerging technology and creative media in a professional, deliverable-driven environment. Interns will gain applied experience with enterprise AI platforms, build a portfolio of real-world media work, and develop skills directly relevant to careers in technology, communications, instructional design, and digital media.

Open to all HU students in good academic standing. No single major is preferred — curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to work across disciplines matter most.

Position Details

Department: School of Applied Media and Innovation

Reports To: Dean, School of Applied Media and Innovation

Employment Type: Paid Student Internship — Hourly

Compensation: $13.00/hour

Hours: 15–20 hours per week

Duration: June–August 2026 (approximately 8 weeks)

What You’ll Work On

All interns will rotate across or contribute to multiple of the following areas based on project needs, individual strengths, and scheduling. No intern will be siloed in a single task:

Agentic AI Tool Development

Work alongside the Dean’s office to research, prototype, and test agentic AI workflows using platforms such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and related AI builder environments. Interns will help design and document tools that support academic and experiential learning operations. (Career Coach alternative, EXPL Planning bot, FAQ bot)

Digital Content Creation

Develop compelling, short-form copy, graphics, video clips, and platform-native content formats (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok). Interns will help maintain a content calendar and contribute ideas for how the School tells its story online. (Brag Book, SAMI web page, 7-Week transition)

Project Brainstorming & Planning

Participate as active contributors in ideation and planning sessions for potential Fall projects. Interns will be invited to bring their own perspectives, propose creative directions, and help shape the work. (PEMA, AI FilmFest, Welcome Weekend engagement activities)
