SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 5,000 students who range from traditional college-age students to adult learners.
The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Warsaw, at Whiteman Air Force Base, and online.
Position Purpose: The Assistant Athletic Director supports learning by working directly with the Athletic Director and Athletic Department in promoting student athlete excellence at State Fair Community College. Primary responsibilities include supporting the Athletic Director with overall duties and responsibilities. This position is responsible for assisting with NJCAA compliance and eligibility. Responsibilities include: assisting with athletic program functionality, scheduling, compliance, facility assistance, fundraising, and student-athlete support This position will work closely with the Athletic Director, Athletic Facilities Director, coaches, Athletic Trainers, Sports Information Director and additional support staff.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the Athletic Director with daily duties and responsibilities.
- Assist the Athletic Director with strategic planning, assessment, and implementation of department goals.
- Assist with student-athlete eligibility and compliance such as creating audit ready files and working closely with the Athletic Director to ensure document accuracy.
- Creating and maintaining accurate record keeping in all areas of the department, including the Athletics Hall of Fame.
- Assist with fundraising, sponsorships, booster club activities and other revenue generating activities.
- Assist with game-day operations, public relations, internal events and community outreach.
- Develop and maintain relationships with student-athletes, coaches, college faculty and staff, community members, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with risk management, emergency action plans, injury records, and overall health and safety of student-athletes.
- Participate in evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended work hours as necessary to support athletic events and department activities.
- A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaboratively, both within the unit and campus wide.
- Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in athletic administration, sports management, education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, athletic administration, coaching, or a related field.
- Knowledge of NJCAA rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, coaches, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members.
- Demonstrated organizational, problem, solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, understand and attend to details, meet established deadlines, and provide excellent customer service to the college community and its stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.
- Ability to move about campus and other locations.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
