Job Description

Description:

F.W. Walton, Inc. (FWW) is seeking a Software Transition Specialist to join our IT Transition Department. This role sits at the center of our internal software ecosystem, which is built around DJRS (Daily Job Reporting System) — our core project management platform — along with the Foreman App and Subcontractor App that connect to it and extend it into the field. The Specialist will act as the bridge between the people who use these applications every day and the developers who build them: testing applications rigorously, translating real field feedback into clear, actionable direction for developers, and championing new ideas that make FWW's technology faster, smarter, and easier to use. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who is equal parts detective, communicator, and builder.

Requirements:

Application Testing & Quality

• Execute structured test plans for DJRS (Daily Job Reporting System) and its connected apps — the Foreman App, Subcontractor App, and related internal tools — ahead of releases and updates.

• Identify bugs, UI friction, and workflow gaps, and document them clearly enough that a developer can act without needing to guess.

• Validate fixes and new features before they reach the field, closing the loop between report and resolution.

Support Desk & Ticket Management

• Monitor and respond to Jira tickets promptly, meeting first-response and SLA targets.

• Drive tickets to true resolution — not just closure — tracking re-open rates and aging to catch issues before they become patterns.

• Maintain a high standard of communication and professionalism in every support interaction, gathering and acting on customer feedback.

The User ? Developer Bridge

• Serve as the translator between field users (foremen, subcontractors, project teams) and the development team, converting real-world pain points into clear, structured requirements.

• Build and maintain a lightweight, repeatable process for feedback intake so developers always know what to build next — never left guessing.

• Bring proposed enhancements and new feature ideas into FWW's project pipeline, helping shape what gets built next and why.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Create and maintain user manuals, quick-reference guides, and internal procedures for DJRS and its connected apps.

• Keep documentation current as the platform evolves, so training material never lags behind the product. Training & Product Advocacy

• Learn new features early and become the go-to person who can confidently demo them to the field.

• Lead or support onboarding and training sessions for foremen, subcontractors, and staff on new tools and updates.

Automation & Innovation

• Use Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate to prototype small fixes, streamline workflows, and reduce manual busywork across departments.

• Proactively pitch new automation ideas and process improvements — this role rewards initiative, not just execution. Commercialization & Release Readiness

• Support the path from internal tool to polished, customer-ready product: structured testing, demo scripting, onboarding materials, and go-live checklists.

• Flag readiness gaps early so releases go out solid the first time.

Required

• Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to translate technical issues for non-technical users and business needs for developers.

• Working knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language such as Python, C#, HTML, or CSS.

• Experience with (or strong aptitude for) Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate

• Comfort using Jira or a similar ticketing/project system for tracking, reporting, and SLA management.

• A self-starter mindset: you spot problems and drive them to resolution without needing to be chased.

Preferred

• Prior experience in software QA, IT support, or a technical liaison role.

• Background or interest in construction, roofing, or field-services technology.

• Experience writing end-user documentation or training materials.

• Exposure to app release cycles, versioning, or product management practices.
