Job Description
The Outpatient Retail Pharmacist is expected to fulfill all regulation requirements relating to the dispensation of prescription drugs. The pharmacist will assist with care coordination of discharge patients as well as fill prescriptions for patients at nearby clinics. The pharmacist is ultimately responsible for medication safety and dispensation of prescription drugs. The pharmacist will assist outpatient pharmacy technicians with the filling and checking of medications. The pharmacist is also expected to assist with telephone calls, refills, and ensuring patients receive their medications. Although not a direct supervisor, the pharmacist is expected to guide pharmacy technicians to maximize pharmacy operations. If a mistake exists in a prescription, the pharmacist is expected to correct the error and intervene. Pharmacists, as well as technicians, are expected to act professionally at all times.
MINIMUM Education, experience, & skills:
- Current Illinois Pharmacist License
- CPR certification within 6 months of employment
- Completion of an accredited Immunization training program within 6 months of employment
- BS or PharmD (preferred) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
