Surgical Tech First Assistant – Certified

As a Certified Surgical First Assistant at Froedtert South, you'll work directly alongside surgeons and the surgical team to support procedures from preparation through completion.
Your advanced surgical knowledge and technical skills will help promote efficient procedures, patient safety, and exceptional surgical outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Assist surgeons throughout surgical procedures according to established standards.
- Prepare patients, operating rooms, instruments, and equipment.
- Maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.
- Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients.
- Provide exposure and assist with tissue handling as directed by the surgeon.
- Assist with hemostasis and closure as appropriate to scope of practice.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
- Perform and verify surgical counts.
- Handle specimens according to established procedures.
- Assist with equipment and instrument management.
- Support safe and efficient operating room turnover.
- Follow infection prevention and patient safety standards.
- Participate in education and quality improvement activities.
What We're Looking For
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification in The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certification as Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by the National Surgical Assistant Association
- Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, instrumentation, and sterile technique.
- Ability to remain focused and effective in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Pay & Benefits
$34.00 - $52.00 per hour | Differentials available for PMs, Nights and Weekend.
Pay is based on experience.
