Since 2013, we’ve been helping individuals, families, and small employers compare plans, apply for financial help, and buy health insurance. As Colorado’s official health insurance marketplace, we are the only place to apply for financial help to lower the monthly cost of premiums. Customers can shop online; get help by phone or online chat from Customer Service Center representatives; and access expert help from a statewide network of certified Brokers and community-based Assisters. Position Summary:
The Sr. Director of Human Resources & Training is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. Specific areas of focus include training and development, employee recruitment and retention, succession planning, organizational and performance management, labor relations, and compensation, while simultaneously being responsible for managing all human resources and training-related matters. He/she will promote and implement human resource values by planning, managing, and maintaining human resources operations and programs that grow, shift, and change to meet the organization’s needs and strategy. The Sr. Director of Human Resources & Training participates in strategic and business planning, policy formulation, process improvements, program development, and represents the organization regarding Employment law matters. This individual will be a hands-on leader who is able to guide, train, and coach employees, as well as develop and deploy various organizational strategies.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Implements human resources strategies including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
- Responsible for oversight and management of all training and human resources functions, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, disciplining staff, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions, maintaining compensation, determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies, designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change.
- Develops human resources financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating staffing requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions, analyzing information and applications.
- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
- Responsible for interpreting employee impact and assuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization in relevant employment law matters.
- Defines and owns the compensation plan and pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
- Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
- Makes decisions on employee benefits programs by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; evaluating benefit contract bids; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
- Enhances department and organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Colorado resident.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related degree, Master’s degree preferred.
- Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred.
- 10+ years’ relevant human resources experience, including 5+ years’ HR Director level experience.
- Ability to bring immediate credibility to the human resources function through his/her professional qualifications and leadership skills, as well as projecting the highest levels of integrity.
- Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills, as well as proven organizational skills, are required.
- Demonstrated competence in HR management matters such as training and development, recruitment and placement, employer-provided benefits, compensation, job design and evaluation, labor and employee relations, workers' compensation, and employee health/safety.
- Must possess working knowledge of employment law and maintain professional expertise in the field of HR management.
- Demonstrated ability to implement human resources strategies.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple organizational initiatives at once.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Work Environment:
- Currently working remotely.
- The Connect for Health Colorado office is located in the North Tech Center area of Denver, near the intersection of I-25 and I-225.
- Work schedule may include some non-traditional hours, weekends, and evening events.
- Core office hours are typically 8 am-5 pm with some flexibility.
Total Compensation:
Connect for Health Colorado offers a competitive benefits package. Employees are offered a robust benefits package and may elect from various offerings to tailor a package best suited to their individual needs. Connect for Health Colorado employees are eligible to participate in the organization’s 403(b) plan and are additionally provided with paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance. The salary range for this position is $144,200 - $200,850.
