Job Description

Senior Staff Experience Designer, Transportation

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Staff Experience Designer, Transportation in Canada.

This role is a high-impact, senior-level individual contributor position focused on shaping the future of infrastructure and transportation design experiences across complex, interconnected software ecosystems. You will define how critical workflows—such as alignments, corridors, surfaces, and geospatial data—function seamlessly across multiple platforms and tools. Acting as a strategic partner to product and engineering leadership, you will influence long-term experience direction while ensuring technical feasibility and system integrity. The role blends deep UX expertise with strong systems thinking, requiring fluency in front-end architecture, APIs, and data models. You will operate across organizational boundaries to identify systemic friction, guide experience strategy, and enable scalable design frameworks. This is a highly autonomous position with enterprise-wide influence, where your work directly impacts product cohesion, workflow efficiency, and the integration of AI into engineering decision-making.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will define and lead the experience architecture for complex infrastructure and transportation workflows across products and platforms.

  • Own and evolve the end-to-end experience architecture for infrastructure and transportation design workflows across multiple tools and systems.
  • Partner with senior leaders in UX, product, and engineering to shape long-term strategy, priorities, and roadmap decisions.
  • Translate highly complex, cross-product challenges into structured experience models that support clear technical and organizational decision-making.
  • Apply deep knowledge of front-end systems, APIs, and data models to ensure design feasibility, scalability, and performance alignment.
  • Identify systemic issues in workflow continuity, interoperability, and data consistency, and drive alignment on durable solutions.
  • Influence product and platform direction by articulating user intent, constraints, trade-offs, and opportunity areas.
  • Guide the responsible integration of AI into infrastructure workflows to enhance engineering judgment and decision-making.
  • Act as a mentor and reference point for senior designers and contribute to the evolution of experience design practice across teams.
  • Represent experience architecture perspectives in senior leadership and executive-level discussions.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly experienced design leader with strong systems thinking, technical depth, and expertise in complex infrastructure or engineering domains.

  • 7+ years of experience in UX or experience design for complex, technical, or enterprise-scale systems.
  • Proven impact on large-scale, cross-product, or platform-level initiatives.
  • Deep domain expertise in infrastructure, civil engineering, or similarly complex technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of front-end architecture, API-driven systems, and data modeling principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence strategy, priorities, and technical decisions without formal authority.
  • Experience working in ambiguous, high-stakes environments requiring strong problem framing and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with transportation or civil engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ReCap, Forma, or Revit is highly valued.
  • Experience designing data-heavy, interoperable, or AI-assisted systems is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills with senior stakeholders and engineering teams.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and seniority.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage.
  • Retirement savings plans and financial wellness support.
  • Flexible work arrangements depending on role and team needs.
  • Strong learning culture with training programs, mentorship, and career development opportunities.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure and AI-driven design systems.
  • Inclusive and collaborative global work environment.
  • Exposure to high-impact, enterprise-scale product challenges.
