Manager, Email & SMS Marketing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Email & SMS Marketing based in United States.

This remote leadership role oversees the strategy, execution, and optimization of email and SMS marketing programs across a broad customer audience. You’ll lead a team of marketing strategists and specialists while shaping personalized, data-driven engagement strategies. The role combines hands-on marketing expertise with people leadership, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll manage campaigns across enterprise platforms, strengthen segmentation and automation, and use performance insights to improve engagement and retention. You’ll also help ensure communications meet applicable privacy and marketing regulations. The position offers significant autonomy in a work-from-anywhere environment, with occasional travel for in-person team gatherings.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of Email and SMS Marketing Strategists and Specialists, including coaching, development, hiring, and performance management.

  • Develop and execute an integrated email and SMS marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals, audience needs, and engagement objectives.

  • Oversee campaign planning, creation, testing, deployment, and optimization using platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Attentive.

  • Develop advanced audience segmentation and personalization strategies to deliver relevant, targeted communications.

  • Monitor campaign KPIs and performance data, turning insights into actionable recommendations and continuous improvements.

  • Ensure email and SMS programs comply with applicable requirements, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and TCPA.

  • Collaborate with content, creative, IT, marketing, and other cross-functional teams to coordinate campaigns and initiatives.

  • Optimize workflows, templates, automation, and operational processes to improve campaign quality, consistency, and speed.

  • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and marketing techniques that can strengthen engagement, retention, and customer experiences.

  • Present marketing insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders and manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience managing email and SMS marketing campaigns using enterprise platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and marketing automation technologies.

  • 3+ years of experience leading marketing teams, including hiring, coaching, development, and performance management.

  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and dynamic content creation for building engaging, on-brand campaigns.

  • Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities, with the ability to translate campaign metrics into strategic insights.

  • Demonstrated expertise in audience segmentation, list management, personalization, and email/SMS marketing compliance.

  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly across complex, multi-layered initiatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to senior-level executives.

  • Active involvement in an evangelical Christian church.

  • Familiarity with JavaScript, PHP, SQL, advanced analytics, direct mail integration, marketing automation, and standard internet/email technologies is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong collaboration and communication with distributed teams.
