Job Description
Aero Industries is growing, and our HR team is growing with it. We are adding a new HR Generalist position to expand the level of HR support available to our employees and leaders. This role will serve as a primary HR point of contact for assigned departments, providing day-to-day support across employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, leave administration, compliance, training, and HR operations.
The HR Generalist will partner closely with supervisors and managers to address employee concerns, improve retention, support staffing needs, and ensure HR policies and practices are applied consistently. This position requires someone who is comfortable working directly with employees at all levels of the organization and maintaining a visible presence within our manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- HR Business Support: Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned departments and employee groups, building strong working relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Employee Relations: Address employee concerns, conduct workplace investigations, document findings, and partner with leadership to resolve employee relations matters appropriately and consistently.
- Manager Support & Corrective Action: Coach supervisors and managers on attendance, performance, employee relations, corrective action, documentation, policy interpretation, and other day-to-day people matters.
- Recruitment & Staffing: Manage full-cycle recruiting for assigned positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, hiring manager coordination, offers, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding. Partner with staffing agencies as needed to support workforce demands.
- Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle: Coordinate new-hire onboarding and support employee changes throughout the employment lifecycle, including transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves, and separations.
- Attendance & Leave Administration: Support administration of attendance programs and employee leaves, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other applicable federal and state leave requirements.
- Performance Management: Support performance reviews, performance improvement plans, goal setting, development plans, and other performance management processes.
- Training & Development: Identify training opportunities and coordinate or facilitate employee and supervisor training programs.
- Compliance & Policy Administration: Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies. Assist with policy development, updates, communication, and consistent application across the organization.
- Compensation & Benefits: Assist with compensation processes, benefits administration, employee questions, annual enrollment, and other HR programs.
- HRIS & Employee Records: Maintain accurate employee information and documentation within the HRIS and personnel records. Assist employees and managers with HRIS-related questions and processes.
- Payroll & Timekeeping Support: Assist with employee and supervisor questions related to timekeeping, attendance, payroll changes, and HRIS records, and provide backup support as needed.
- HR Reporting & Metrics: Track and report HR metrics including turnover, staffing, time-to-fill, absenteeism, headcount, and other workforce trends.
- Safety: Partner with Operations and Safety to reinforce workplace safety expectations and support safety-related HR initiatives and employee matters.
- Culture, Engagement & Retention: Support initiatives focused on employee engagement, communication, recognition, retention, and building a positive workplace culture.
- Maintain a regular presence on the manufacturing floor and proactively engage with employees and supervisors to identify and address HR needs.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience may be considered.
- 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment.
- Experience supporting employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, corrective action, performance concerns, and policy interpretation.
- Experience with full-cycle recruiting, including candidate screening, interviewing, hiring manager coordination, offers, and onboarding.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR practices, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and other applicable employment regulations.
- Ability to effectively coach and provide HR guidance to supervisors and managers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with an HRIS, applicant tracking system, or other HR technology.
- Comfortable working in both an office and manufacturing environment and maintaining a regular presence on the production floor.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of an HR and leadership team.
- Ability to occasionally adjust work hours to support employees and operational needs across production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience administering FMLA, ADA accommodations, attendance programs, or other employee leave processes.
- Experience with Paylocity or a similar HRIS/payroll platform.
- Experience partnering with staffing agencies and supporting temporary-to-hire workforce programs.
- Experience supporting benefits administration, compensation processes, and performance management.
- Experience working with or supporting workplace safety and EHS initiatives.
- Experience supporting employees across multiple locations or states.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification, or actively working toward certification, is preferred.
POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Full-time, first shift, Monday–Friday
- Work Location: This is a fully on-site position at our Indianapolis facility.
- Aero operates on a first-shift production schedule, allowing the HR team to be accessible and present while our employees and leaders are on-site.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to regularly walk through office and manufacturing areas.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to safely work in a manufacturing environment and comply with applicable safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
