POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Work in a safe manner, recognize and correct shop hazards, and comply with WBC, OSHA and DOT safety requirements
  2. Serve as a safe and productive member of the Equipment Group
  3. Confer with Shop Foreman / review work orders
  4. Discuss service work with field superintendents. All field work must be approved and scheduled by the Shop Foreman
  5. Inspect equipment to determine service / repair needs
  6. Perform routine maintenance services and repairs for on-road vehicles, small tools (electric and gas) and light / heavy equipment ranging from portable generators to 40,000- pound track excavators
  7. Test components / systems utilizing analyzers, gauges and computerized diagnostic devices
  8. Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear / repair
  9. Follow manufacturer’s documents and WBC checklists to ensure equipment is thoroughly examined and maintained
  10. Test-drive to verify equipment is functioning properly after maintenance / repair is complete to ensure the piece does not return “problem not fixed”
  11. Equipment / Tool Tag – complete the white tab upon completion of work.
  12. Daily Equipment Maintenance / Safety Inspection Checklist – include a blank checklist in all equipment with checklist tubes or cabs upon completion of the work
  13. Document service records
  14. Welding
  15. Clean / wash equipment
  16. Be available for emergency calls outside normal business hours
  17. Perform job duties at shop location when not performing field services
  18. Maintain supplies on field service truck and be responsible for service / repair of field service truck
  19. Make improvement recommendations to Shop Foreman regarding field-based services / repairs
  20. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
  21. Perform all assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes / tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times

Education and/or Experience

  1. High School Diploma/GED – required
  2. Automotive maintenance training / experience – required
  3. Small tools (electric and gas) training / experience – required
  4. Light / heavy equipment training / experience – required
  5. Basic computer skills (typing, email, Internet) - required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  1. Problem-solving, trouble-shooting, and mechanical reasoning
  2. Analyzing and interpreting equipment service manuals, schematics, etc.
  3. Focus, concentration, attention to fine detail, pride in workmanship
  4. Thinking logically and critically
  5. Making judgments and decisions at task and process levels
  6. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing at a basic level

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  1. Valid driver’s license – required
  2. CDL Class A driver’s license – required 90 days after employment.
  3. OSHA 10-Hour Certification – required; training provided by Wayne Brothers
  4. OSHA 30-Hour Certification – desirable
  5. First Aid/CPR - desirable
  6. All-terrain material handler certification – required when offered by WBC
  7. Aerial lift certification – required when offered by WBC
  8. ASE Certification - desirable

Physical Demands

  1. Lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50 pounds
  2. Standing for long periods of time
  3. Frequent climbing, leaning
  4. Manual dexterity
