Field Service Diesel Technician / Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Safe Industries is seeking a skilled Field Service Diesel Technician to diagnose, maintain, inspect, and repair fire apparatus, emergency response vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks directly at customer locations. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Diesel Mechanic, Mobile Service Technician, Heavy Truck Technician, Fleet Technician, or Field Service Mechanic who enjoys working independently, solving complex problems, and providing exceptional customer service.

What You'll Do
As a Mobile Field Service Technician, you'll perform diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, and emergency service work on heavy-duty emergency vehicles and related equipment throughout your assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair:
* Fire apparatus
* Emergency response vehicles
* Diesel-powered trucks
* Commercial fleet vehicles
* Specialty equipment
Troubleshoot and repair:
* Diesel engines
* Hydraulic systems
* Pneumatic systems
* Electrical and multiplex systems
* Steering and suspension systems
* HVAC components
* Driveline assemblies
* Brake and air brake systems
* Water pumps and auxiliary equipment
* Perform preventive maintenance inspections and safety evaluations
* Utilize OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, and testing equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently
* Complete emergency roadside repairs and after-hours service calls when required
* Communicate directly with customers regarding:
* Repair findings
* Service recommendations
* Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, labor hours, parts usage, and warranty information using digital work order systems
* Coordinate and schedule field service appointments and repair priorities
* Source and acquire parts needed for repairs in the field
* Manage and maintain inventory, service supplies, and consumables
* Maintain a clean, organized, and professional company service vehicle
* Participate in an on-call rotation supporting emergency service needs during nights and weekends
* Safely operate CDL-required vehicles while maintaining all driving qualifications and endorsements
Territory & Travel:
Travel is required during most shifts, with daily field service work performed at customer locations throughout:
* Stanly County
* Union County
* Cabarrus County
* Mecklenburg County
* Gaston County
* Cleveland County
* Lincoln County
* Burke County
* Rutherford County
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience in:
* Diesel repair
* Heavy truck repair
* Fleet maintenance
* Commercial vehicle repair
* Equipment maintenance
* Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities
Experience diagnosing:
* Electrical systems
* Mechanical systems
* Hydraulic systems
* Pneumatic systems
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
* Experience using diagnostic software, OEM service information, and repair equipment
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Basic computer skills and experience completing electronic work orders
* Ability to maintain CDL endorsements, DOT medical certification, and an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience servicing:
* Fire apparatus
* Emergency vehicles
* Municipal fleets
* Specialty trucks
* ASE, EVT, OEM, Cummins, Allison, Detroit Diesel, or equivalent certifications
* Advanced electrical diagnostic experience
* Multiplex system knowledge
* Experience with hydraulics and pump systems
* Mobile service and field repair experience
* Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
