Description:

Wisconsin Centrifugal, a division of MetalTek International, is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer to support alloy improvement, process optimization, quality initiatives, and customer-driven manufacturing solutions for high-performance centrifugal cast products.

This role offers a unique blend of metallurgy, manufacturing, quality, customer collaboration, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with operations, engineering, quality, sales, and customers to solve technical challenges, improve processes, support production, and help deliver world-class cast products used in demanding industrial applications around the globe. Responsibilities include supporting casting operations, improving alloy performance, analyzing metallurgical data, reviewing customer requirements, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.

What You'll Do

  • Improve alloy performance, casting processes, and product quality.
  • Support melting, centrifugal casting, heat treatment, and finishing operations.
  • Review customer specifications, purchase orders, and technical requirements.
  • Analyze metallurgical data, microstructures, and mechanical properties.
  • Troubleshoot quality and production challenges through root cause analysis.
  • Partner with operations, quality, engineering, sales, and customers to deliver solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, certifications, and customer documentation.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Support alloy improvement and manufacturing optimization projects.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a foundry, casting operation, metals manufacturing environment, or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of casting processes and metallurgical principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage directly with customers on technical matters.
  • Demonstrated accountability, initiative, and ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in both office and production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with centrifugal casting operations.
  • Experience with AOD processing.
  • Experience in foundry, casting, metals manufacturing, or related industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of stainless steel, nickel-based, cobalt-based, and copper-based alloys.
  • Experience with metallurgical testing, quality systems, and failure analysis.
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Master's Degree, PhD, or additional advanced coursework in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
