Job Description
Since 1982, we've been making preserves in our Northern Michigan storefront kitchen. Our skilled crew still prepares fruit by hand and cooks it with care in small-batch copper kettles. We work directly with a dedicated group of Michigan farmers and foragers who grow and gather the distinctive fruit varieties we love, prized for generations for their flavor and character. As a small, family-owned company, we exist to find, capture, and preserve flavors you won't find anywhere else.
American Spoon is hiring Seasonal Holiday Customer Experience Associates for our call center. In this role, you'll take inbound phone orders for our handcrafted preserves, jams, sweet toppings, and savories, all made in Petoskey and shipped to customers across the United States, U.S. territories, and Canada.
We're looking for people who can start in November and work 25–40 hours a week. Candidates with at least one weekend day or evening available will be given priority. Paid training takes place in late October or early November.
What You'll Do
- Take phone orders from customers shopping for themselves or sending gifts, packed and shipped from our warehouse
- Help customers choose products and gifts, drawing on all available resources
- Stay patient, friendly, and professional with every caller
- Solve problems creatively and proactively, and follow up on questions or concerns with a sense of urgency
- Track shipped orders and keep customers updated
- Pitch in on other tasks as needed, such as returning voicemails, preparing catalogs for mailing, answering customer inquiries, and data entry
- Keep up in a fast-paced environment, learning new information about products, order system updates, and inventory as it changes
What We're Looking For
- Customer service or sales experience is a plus
- An energetic, positive, and genuine approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills
- A love of working as part of a team
- Comfort with web-based software
- A passion for artisan foods and an interest in (or knowledge of) locally grown fruit
This is a great fit for retirees, teachers, college students, or anyone looking for seasonal work before ski season. We offer flexible scheduling and a fun, team-oriented environment.
