Job Description
Position Title: HR Generalist
Location: Des Moines, IA, United States
Description:
Performs human resources generalist and compliance related duties in support of human resources initiatives and programs. Program and project support related to employee relations, HR compliance, staffing, benefits, compensation, labor relations, and learning management.
Responsibilities:
Leads departmental projects as assigned including but not limited to corporate-led initiatives, workforce, staffing, diversity and inclusion, and learning development.
Manages the drug and alcohol testing program, including coordinating pre-employment drug and physical testing.
Updates programs and manages effective testing and training.
Stay abreast of state employment laws and policy development affecting areas of responsibility.
Maintain human resources policy and employee paperwork review, updates and tracking.
Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability, military leave, and associated state leave entitlements.
Assists with staffing processes such as job postings, candidate review, background checks, new hire processing/onboarding and other work as assigned in support of business partner and recruiter operations.
Maintain an awareness of compliance with all state and federal leave regulations.
Add Assists in unemployment reporting and submits data for claims and appeals.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to such as centralized tracking, reporting, including weekly staffing reports, or monitoring of projects or tasks.
Runs reports and analyzes data from HR systems for responding to data requests, meeting regulatory requirements and supporting HR metrics.
Responsible for planning events, functions and tours, including logistical details and communications.
Supports department budgeting and invoice payment processes.
Assists with staffing processes such as interview scheduling, internship program, job fairs, new hire processing/onboarding.
Assists in conducting employee fact finding investigations concerning internal Equal Employment Opportunity policy claims.
Supports business partners as required regarding ADA accommodation requests.
Provides analysis and investigative summaries with recommended actions pursuant to company policy.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in human resources from an accredited school (Typically three years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Three years human resources experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations and human resources.
Knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations and requirements.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels within the organization and in interacting with customers required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, maintain confidential information, comply with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines and other procedures required. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
