About the Role:
The Accounting Clerk I plays a vital role in supporting the financial operations within a manufacturing environment by ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports to support management decision-making. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and adherence to company policies and regulatory standards to maintain the integrity of financial data. The Accounting Clerk I will collaborate closely with other departments to gather necessary documentation and resolve discrepancies, contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting function. Ultimately, this position helps ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department and supports the company’s financial health and compliance objectives. This is a in-office Monday - Friday position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience with accounting software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial accounting environment.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Process and record daily financial transactions including accounts payable and receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting files and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and billing issues.
- Support audit activities by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards.
Skills:
The required skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting knowledge are used daily to accurately enter and reconcile financial data, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly. Attention to detail is critical when reviewing invoices, bank statements, and ledger accounts to identify and correct errors promptly.
