Position Summary

The Gift Planning Intern will serve the Office of Gift Planning (OGP) at the CSU Foundation. OGP is a technical and collaborative team with a main purpose of securing deferred (end of life) gifts made to support Colorado State University. The most common vehicles used in deferred gifts are: wills, trusts, life insurance policies, IRA accounts, or real estate. OGP is seeking a Student Coordinator with a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and a willingness to learn. This position requires keen problem-solving skills, flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail. Discretion of sensitive information required.

This is a part-time, temporary, in-person position based in Fort Collins, Colorado.

This merger will allow us to more effectively serve our donors, alumni, and stakeholders with a unified structure, strengthen accountability, and build the capacity to scale our fundraising enterprise. With one of the leading development teams in the country, we most recently achieved our highest fundraising year to date in 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aid the Gift Planning Team in various projects, administrative tasks, and initiatives related to:
  • General office duties – sorting mail, assisting visitors, team errands, kitchen duty, and copy station upkeep.
  • Database management (ascend)
  • Monthly birthday card mailing program.
  • Team travel and expense reimbursements.
  • Document management – scanning, tracking, filing (hard copy and digital), and shredding.
  • Transcribing contact reports for team.
  • Special projects as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student matriculating toward a degree.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • General office experience for at least six months.
  • Must be willing to work spring and fall semester.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to start the position assignment in August 2026.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds at one time (signs, tables, banners, etc) with or without assistive devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to commit to at least one year.
  • Ability to work during the summer months.
  • Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with database – preferably ascend.
  • Proven organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Preferred ability to work 10+ hours a week between 8am-5pm.
