Tech Lead (Data Engineering)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tech Lead (Data Engineering) based in Brazil.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the technical direction of strategic AI and Data initiatives, driving the evolution of modern data platforms.
You will guide a multidisciplinary engineering squad, ensuring scalable, reliable, and high-quality data solutions.
The position combines hands-on technical expertise with architectural leadership and team collaboration.

Accountabilities:

The Tech Lead (Data Engineering) will be responsible for providing technical leadership across data engineering initiatives, ensuring the successful delivery and continuous improvement of scalable data solutions. The role requires close collaboration with engineering teams, stakeholders, and business partners to define architectures, establish best practices, and drive impactful outcomes.

  • Lead technically a data engineering squad, providing guidance, architectural direction, and support for complex technical decisions.
  • Design and evolve modern cloud-based data architectures aligned with scalability, performance, and business requirements.
  • Build and oversee data pipelines using batch, streaming, and change data capture (CDC) approaches.
  • Ensure the quality, reliability, governance, and observability of enterprise data solutions.
  • Promote engineering best practices, including automation, documentation, code quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Support the adoption of modern DataOps and MLOps practices where applicable.
  • Drive initiatives involving high-volume data environments and digital transformation projects.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data engineering, cloud platforms, and technical leadership, with the ability to design robust data solutions while collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.

  • Proven experience in Data Engineering roles with expertise in designing and implementing data platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments, particularly Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with Databricks and Google BigQuery.
  • Experience designing and managing data pipelines using Apache Airflow (Google Composer).
  • Knowledge of Medallion Architecture and modern cloud data architecture patterns.
  • Experience with batch processing, streaming solutions, and CDC pipelines.
  • Understanding of data governance, quality management, and data observability practices.
  • Experience working as a Tech Lead or Data Architect is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DataOps, and MLOps concepts is a plus.
  • Experience handling high-volume data environments and large-scale transformation projects is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, collaboration mindset, proactive attitude, and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Experience in the Energy and Utilities sector is considered a plus.
