Working Title:
Temp Parttime Faculty-Anthropology

Position Summary:
The UNM Department of Anthropology anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 Semesters.

Anticipated openings will be for Adjuncts who can teach courses in a broad range of subject areas, including but not limited to the following subject areas:

• Archaeology

• Evolutionary Anthropology

• General Anthropology

• Medical Anthropology

• Public Archaeology

• Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology

The UNM Anthropology Department is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teach undergraduate and/or graduate level classes in various disciplines as specified above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to meeting with the class during assigned times, delivering the course curriculum, developing and grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as outlined by the Chair of the department.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, courses on the current course schedule, funding, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Chair of the UNM Anthropology Department.

To teach courses as described above are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:

• An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Anthropology or the subfield for which you are applying;

• Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield;

• Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online);

• A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
