Job Description

Bradley Construction has been building throughout the Southeast since 1975. Over the past five decades, we have completed more than 10,000 multifamily units and over $1 billion in construction, earning a reputation for quality, integrity, and long-term client relationships.

Today, we continue to grow while maintaining the culture of a family-owned company. We invest in our people, embrace new technology, and believe that great construction starts long before the first shovel hits the ground. Our preconstruction team plays a critical role in shaping successful projects and building lasting partnerships with owners, architects, and developers.

We're looking for someone who wants to do more than prepare estimates—we're looking for someone who wants to help shape the future of our preconstruction department.

Position Summary

Bradley Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator / Preconstruction Manager to join our growing team.

This position is ideal for a senior estimator with strong technical abilities who enjoys collaborating with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction process. The right candidate will have the opportunity to take on increasing leadership responsibilities as our preconstruction department continues to expand.

This is a highly visible role that combines estimating expertise, strategic thinking, relationship building, and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates.
  • Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing analyses.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications for scope completeness and constructability.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Prepare bid packages and coordinate proposal submissions.
  • Work closely with developers, architects, engineers, and consultants throughout design.
  • Participate in budgeting, feasibility studies, and early project planning.
  • Assist with project scheduling during preconstruction.
  • Present estimates and recommendations to company leadership and clients.
  • Maintain current knowledge of market pricing, labor trends, and material costs.
  • Help improve estimating systems, processes, databases, and best practices.
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to the continued growth of the department.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of multifamily/commercial construction estimating experience.
  • Strong experience preparing conceptual through GMP estimates.
  • Excellent understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP plans.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Multifamily construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Commercial construction experience considered.
  • Experience participating in preconstruction meetings with owners and design teams.
  • Experience with value engineering and constructability reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, BuildingConnected, Sage, or similar construction software.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Professional and polished in client interactions.
  • Technically strong and detail-oriented.
  • Personable and collaborative.
  • A proactive problem solver.
  • Comfortable leading discussions and presenting ideas.
  • Curious and continually looking for better ways to build.
  • Honest, dependable, and accountable.
  • Able to think strategically while executing the details.
  • Interested in growing into a larger leadership role within preconstruction.

Why Bradley Construction?

At Bradley Construction, you'll join a company with the stability of a 50-year history while helping build the next generation of our business.

You'll work directly with company leadership, influence major projects from the earliest stages, and have the opportunity to shape the future of our preconstruction operations.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Performance bonus opportunities.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
  • Professional development and continuing education.
  • A collaborative, family-oriented culture with long-term career growth.
  • The opportunity to help build one of the Southeast's premier preconstruction teams.

If you're an experienced estimator who enjoys building relationships as much as building budgets—and you're looking for a long-term opportunity to grow your career—we'd love to hear from you.
