Job Description

Class B CDL Driver

Starting Pay: $21.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 4-Day Workweek
Start Time: 5:00 AM
Typical Shift: 10–12 hours
Home Daily

We are looking for a dependable, hard-working Class B CDL Driver who takes pride in doing a job well, works safely, and understands that the day is finished when the route is finished.

This is not a position for someone looking to simply clock in and clock out. Our drivers are an important part of the communities we serve. They represent our company every time they drive through a neighborhood, interact with a customer, help a teammate, or solve a problem on the route.

We are looking for people who show up ready to work, stay focused, take responsibility, and help the team get the job done.

What You'll Do

As a Garbage Truck Driver, you will safely operate a commercial refuse collection vehicle while completing assigned residential routes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Safely operate a Class B commercial garbage truck.
  • Complete residential collection routes accurately and efficiently.
  • Begin routes promptly and be ready for the first scheduled stops of the day.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Follow DOT regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Properly document vehicle issues, route problems, missed stops, contamination, blocked carts, or other service concerns.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings, pedestrians, vehicles, mailboxes, overhead obstacles, and property.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, supervisors, teammates, and customers.
  • Adapt to route changes, equipment changes, weather, traffic, breakdowns, and unexpected situations.
  • Assist teammates when needed to ensure all routes are completed.
  • Help keep trucks clean, organized, and ready for service.
  • Protect company equipment and treat trucks as if they were your own.
  • Represent the company professionally while working in our community.
  • Perform other duties reasonably necessary to complete daily operations.
The Person We're Looking For

The right driver is someone who:

  • Shows up on time, prepared, and ready to work.
  • Understands that reliability matters.
  • Has a strong work ethic and personal accountability.
  • Remains focused throughout long workdays.
  • Limits personal cell phone use during working time and remains focused on safe, productive route completion.
  • Is comfortable working independently.
  • Can also step into a leadership role when the situation requires it.
  • Communicates problems instead of ignoring them.
  • Looks for solutions rather than excuses.
  • Handles changes without becoming discouraged or disruptive.
  • Maintains a professional, positive attitude even when the day gets difficult.
  • Is willing to help another driver or route when needed.
  • Takes pride in finishing the day's work.
  • Understands that sanitation is an essential service and customers depend on us every week.
  • Works well in a team environment and does not contribute to unnecessary workplace conflict or negativity.
Our Work Culture

Our team operates around a few simple principles:

Do what you say you're going to do.
Reliability builds trust with customers and with each other.

Take ownership.
If there is a problem, communicate it, help solve it, and keep moving.

Serve people well.
Customers are the reason we have jobs. Be respectful, helpful, and professional.

Work safely.
Getting the route finished matters, but getting everyone home safely matters more.

Help the team win.
Sometimes that means helping another route, adjusting plans, or doing something outside your normal routine.

Lead where you are.
Leadership is not a job title. We expect drivers to use good judgment, take initiative, and set the example.

Bring solutions, not unnecessary drama.
Waste collection can be unpredictable. We value people who stay level-headed, adaptable, and focused on getting the job done.

Schedule

This position offers a 4-day workweek: Monday through Thursday.

Drivers report at approximately 5:00 AM.

Typical workdays are approximately 10–12 hours, depending on route volume, weather, traffic, equipment, and operational needs.

Because routes must be completed, the exact end time can vary.

You are home every day.

Compensation & Growth

Starting Pay: $21.50 per hour

This position includes a structured early-performance review and pay-growth path.

Employees may be eligible for pay increases at 60 days, 90 days, and 120 days based on performance, attendance, safety, reliability, attitude, route execution, teamwork, and overall job performance.

Beginning at 120 days, eligible employees may also qualify for performance bonuses based on established company performance standards.

Strong performers therefore have an opportunity to increase their earnings within their first four months of employment.

Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable wage and hour requirements.

Benefits

Eligible employees receive benefits beginning after 90 days of employment, including:

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 100% company-paid dental insurance
  • 100% company-paid vision insurance
  • 100% company-paid Teladoc
  • 100% company-paid group term life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4%
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Maintain a valid DOT Medical Card as required.
  • Meet applicable DOT driver qualification requirements.
  • Have an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Be legally eligible to operate commercial motor vehicles.
  • Be able to safely operate large commercial vehicles in residential neighborhoods.
  • Be dependable and capable of reporting to work consistently at 5:00 AM.
  • Be able to work approximately 10–12 hours per day.
  • Be able to work outdoors in Florida heat, rain, humidity, and changing weather conditions.
  • Be physically capable of entering and exiting the truck repeatedly throughout the workday when required.
  • Be able to perform the physical duties associated with residential waste collection.
  • Be able to communicate clearly with supervisors, dispatch, coworkers, and customers.
  • Maintain professional conduct while representing the company.
Drug-Free Workplace

Safety is extremely important in our industry.

Drivers must meet all applicable DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, including pre-employment testing and participation in required random testing programs.

Employees are expected to report to work fit for duty and capable of safely operating commercial equipment.

This Job May Be a Great Fit If You…

Like starting early and getting home every night.

Prefer working four longer days instead of five shorter ones.

Enjoy driving and working independently.

Take satisfaction in completing a route and seeing tangible results from your work.

Want to work for a growing locally operated company where strong employees can become leaders.

Don't need someone constantly watching over you to get your job done.

Understand that sometimes the plan changes — and you can adjust without losing focus.

Believe that when you're part of a team, you help finish the job.

What Success Looks Like

Show up. Work safely. Stay focused. Take ownership. Serve customers well. Help your team. Finish strong.

We are building a team of dependable people who want to work hard, grow with the company, and take pride in providing an essential service to our community.

If that describes you, we'd like to hear from you.
