Treatment encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of recovery by offering a safe, loving and healing environment, combining professional excellence and the principles of the Twelve Steps.

Cumberland Heights Foundation offers a comprehensive benefits program, which includes:

· Medical, Dental and Vision effective 1st day of month following 28 days of employment

· Employer Contribution for Health Saving Account or Health Reimbursement Account

· 401K with Company match and eligibility after 90 days of employment

· Paid Time Off (PTO) accrual beginning day (1) one and up to 20 days of PTO the first year

POSITION SUMMARY

Cumberland Heights is a nationally recognized addiction treatment organization, and the technology that supports our clinical teams directly impacts patient outcomes. As Director of Information Technology, you will lead the department responsible for the systems, infrastructure, and digital capabilities that keep our staff connected and our patients served across more than two dozen locations.

This role is for someone who leads from the front. You bring deep, applied technical skill — in systems infrastructure, AI and automation, or both — and you use it. You are not a manager who delegates everything technical; you are someone who can roll up your sleeves when it matters, earn the respect of your team through competence, and still operate effectively at the leadership and strategic level.

At the same time, you will own the full scope of IT leadership: personnel, budget, vendor relationships, and long-term planning in close partnership with the CSO. Cumberland Heights is at an active inflection point in its technology maturity, and this role will shape what the department becomes.

Team Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing IT team with clear expectations, ongoing coaching, and formal performance management
  • Own all personnel matters within the IT department: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and offboarding
  • Build a team culture defined by accountability, documentation discipline, and knowledge sharing — no single points of failure
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues and be willing to engage directly, not just redirect

Technology Strategy & Planning

  • Partner with the CSO on Cumberland Heights’ technology roadmap: priorities, sequencing, and multi-year planning
  • Lead annual IT planning cycles including cross-department needs assessment, initiative prioritization, and resource recommendations
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and bring forward clear, plain-language recommendations for executive decision-making
  • Ensure strategy is executed — own the follow-through, not just the plan

Budget & Financial Management

  • Own the IT department budget: develop proposals, track spend, and report variances to the CSO and CFO
  • Manage vendor contracts, licensing, and renewals — identifying cost optimization opportunities without sacrificing reliability or compliance
  • Conduct build-versus-buy analyses and present recommendations with clear financial and operational rationale
  • Ensure IT investments are tied to measurable organizational outcomes

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Maintain accountability for the reliability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure across all locations
  • Oversee HIPAA-compliant systems, endpoint management, identity and access controls, backup and disaster recovery, and multi-site network connectivity
  • Drive continuous improvement in incident response, change management processes, and service delivery
  • Ensure runbooks, system documentation, and operational procedures are current and actually used

Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead technology change initiatives with structured change management — staff are prepared and supported, not surprised
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization as a credible, approachable IT leader who understands the mission
  • Communicate priorities, risks, and decisions clearly across audiences: technical staff, department heads, and executive leadership
  • Represent IT in organizational leadership forums and contribute actively to cross-functional planning

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all technology initiatives comply with HIPAA, the organization’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Maintain current documentation of systems, integrations, data flows, vendor relationships, and compliance posture
  • Support internal audit, risk management, and board-level reporting as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
  • Deep, applied technical skill in at least one of the following: systems infrastructure and administration, or AI and automation implementation
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT teams, budgets, and vendor relationships
  • Proven ability to translate organizational strategy into executed technology plans — not just documented ones
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements and IT compliance in regulated environments
  • If recovering, two years of verifiable abstinence required with active participation in the appropriate Twelve Step program preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or another regulated industry
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, and enterprise endpoint management platforms
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise AI tools and practical deployment of AI or automation initiatives
  • Relevant certifications: ITIL, PMP, Microsoft, CompTIA, or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.
  • Position requires occasional travel to satellite locations, evening and weekend hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs and/or push pull up to 40lbs; move around campus on uneven and rural terrain.
  • Ability to speak, hear, see, sit, walk, stand, reach, and use fine/gross motor skills for extended periods.
